Can someone explain this to me?
Zogby did a poll for the Portland Press Herald for Maine

Results are the following:

9/9/04
bush 43
Kerry 43
nader 3
unsure 11

Approval:

bush 51 favorable 47 unfavorable 3 other
Kerry 48 favorable 46 unfavorable 6 other

"Do you think President Bush deserves to be reelected, or do you think it is time for someone new?"

Deserves reelection 43
Someone new 53
unsure 4

The majority in Maine want someone new, bush and Kerry are tied, but there are 11% unsure

Any ideas what this means. 11% unsure is unbelievable to me

1. I would have to know whether it was an interactive poll or a regular
telephone poll that is scientific before I gave it much credence.

Although polls have been showing Maine fairly tight, but with 11% undecided, those will probably break toward Kerry in the end.

What looks interesting to me, but I have no idea of its actually plausibility, if bush picked off one of Maine's electoral votes, which could mean a lot in a razor thin presidential race.

2. I'm not sure what's going on in Maine
District 1 (mostly southern Maine) should be solid blue. Northern Maine is a different story, though. It's possible that Bush could pick up 1 electoral vote from here with the other 3 going to Kerry.

Note that this poll has a margin of error of +/-5% (!!!)

4. Here is what I think
Kerry should NOT worry about the "undecided" voter. If he concentrates on mobilizing the base, the message will be very clear with no ambiguity, and the undecided will go for him, because that is why they are undecided, they don't quite no what his message is. bush they already know what his message is, and they are not happy with it, which explains why the majority believe someone new should be president.

7. Sorry, I do not look at polls anymore.
I stopped after the one from Newsweek (* dbl-digit lead) and I feel a lot better. To keep my sanity, I look at the electoral numbers from time to time.
