Bush's meme--flip-flopper. What do you think Kerry's should be?
I think it should be: Do you really want 4 more years of this? Or are you ready for a change?

Just as Bush's meme allows him to stay on message and talk about any topic--economy, war, character, blah, blah, blah. So would "Do you really want 4 more years of this?"

15. I don't like it either. Jargon. Do you have a better word?
Edited on Mon Sep-13-04 11:52 AM by Raenelle
I still am repulsed by the use of nouns as verbs--, e.g., to network. And I'll never accept split infinitives (except for Gene Roddenberry, whom I've forgive almost anything) or ending sentences with prepositions in the written word.

Consider me chastised. I've lent weight to the use of the most dreaded of writing cliches--jargon. Ick. Ick. Ick.

22. Another word for meme?

It really means over and over until it sticks.
I wish we did have another word but please make it something easy to type....

stick is hard to type
meme is easier
"rere" for repeat and repeat again is easy

Just give me easy to remember and type.

Whatever the RERE, we need to make something stick with the Bush clan. That is the important thing to remember in this election.

It needs to be something that is one word because anything else deserves at least a three word explanation.

I still vote for FLOP! FLOP is a put down to their FLIP FLOP!
FLOP is also exactly what this administration is, a FLOP!

16. Failure is the only one listed (so far) that Kerry can use, plus it's true
Edited on Mon Sep-13-04 11:55 AM by Vickers
He has failed at SO MANY THINGS!

- failed to complete his ANG commitment

- failed at business

- failed to use the international goodwill generated by 9/11

- failed to catch OBL

- failed to follow international law when he invaded Iraq

- failed to properly prosecute the Iraqi War

etc. etc.

is better because it is a put down to their little bully stuff.

I never understood how they could make that stick because Bush has flipped all over the map.

He is a FLOP plain and simple.

26. "Liar" came to my mind immediately
though he is more of a flip-flopper than Kerry is, and I wish that description would get attached to Bush more. Then those Repub idiots who bring flip-flops to speeches would lose some of their strength.

30. Crazy
In light of Colin Powell's recent comments referring to Rumsfeld, Wolfie, and another as "fucking crazies", it might be worth it to start trying to paint Bush himself as being one of those crazies. Kerry should allude to these comments, making sure to note that they came from a member of Bush's own adminstration.

Then, go from there to the Iraq war, showing the crazy thought that led us in there, to Bush's tax cuts, to his little falling-off-of-things problem, to his so-called Bushisms... there's lots of ammo there.

31. Bush's Team Selects These Labels Very Carefully
Edited on Mon Sep-13-04 01:25 PM by GiovanniC
And we should do the same.

In 2000, when Bush was running against Al Gore, Bush's people compared the Governor to the Vice President. Governor Bush was loud, rowdy, excitable. It was the biggest difference between the two. Voters in polls said they would rather have a beer at a barbeque with Bush than with Gore.

And as a result, Gore was labelled "Boring". "Robotic". "Dull". This wasn't accidental. It was meant to contrast with what voters felt was Bush's biggest strength.

In 2004, some things have changed, and some have stayed the same. The voters care slightly less whether or not Bush is an ideal guest for a summer picnic. However, his biggest strength with voters is his perceived decisiveness.

As a result, Kerry is labelled "Indecisive". "Wish-Washy". "A Flip-Flopper". These labels weren't applied because they are true, necessarily, but because they are the opposite of Bush's biggest perceived strength.

Early in the campaign, Kerry's biggest perceived strength was probably his military service. Unfortunately, that's just not true anymore, mainly because of the Swift Boat Liars. People just don't perceive it as much of a strength anymore.

Best I can tell, Kerry's biggest perceived positive trait is that he's smart. And lucky for him, Bush is already perceived as not the brightest crayon in the box, if you know what I mean. I think Kerry should go after Bush for being a dumbass. It doesn't matter if it's true, as long as the voters think it's true.

Bush is a major league dumbass.

32. I think he ought to be referred to
relentlessly as Pres. Cheney's puppet. Kerry should remind voters at every opportunity that shit-for-brains can't complete a coherent sentence, sat like a clueless dumbass when the country was under attack, and took Cheney with him to his 9/11 commission testimony. The chimp has provided the Dems with a wealth of ammunition, but they are too goddamned scared to fire a shot.
