Fox Anchor Bimbo Calls Clinton A Draft-Dodger
Did anyone else catch that comment this afternoon? To my knowledge she's a news-reader or "reporter"... it's not as though she's doing a Scarborough or O'Reilly type of show, yet she feels compelled to inject that "Clinton was a draft-dodger" (as some sort of lame defense for Bush* getting preferred treatment and trying to avoid discussing that he never even completed his obligations to that.)

Is someone off-camera whispering instructions into a microphone that's connected to her earphone? "Draft dodger! Draft dodger! Say 'draft-dodger' and 'Clinton' in the same sentence!"

It was such an obvious effort. Still, it was maddening.

4. Clinton has mentioned this in almost every speech
he has given when talking about Kerry. He says Bush and Cheney, like himself, did not go to Viet Nam, but that Kerry volunteered.

The world was a different place when Clinton took over. And when he sent men to battle, you better believe the right said all sorts of nasty things about the fact that he didn't serve (he had no right to send troops to Bosnia since he himself hadn't served, that sort of thing).

5. After all, Clinton's running for office this year, right? *sigh*
How desperate is THAT? Actually, that's a good sign...

They KNOW Bush is incompetent, they KNOW he lied about his 'service...' so they've got to stall and divert attention SOMEHOW...

Unfortunately the average American in the public watching this stuff is stupid and won't catch on.

7. Clinton himself has admitted he was a draft dodger.
He was doing it to make Kerry look good. Not that news spokes-models should be saying it out of context in the middle of a broadcast.

Of subject, but my favorite 'draft dodger' quote came from a friend of mine who is ex-military. A few weeks back, someone was parroting the swiftboat liars to him. He puffs up and says 'Clinton was a draft dodger, Cheney was a draft dodger, Bush was a draft dodger. I don't care if Kerry hid behind a tree and pissed his pants the entire time he was in Vietnam. Kerry Went! Maybe you had to be there, but it was too funny. The swiftboat guy kind of tucked his tail between his legs and left.

8. Clinton protested the war--he was no Chickenhawk.
And he accepted a Rhodes Scholarship--which offers much beyond a deferment. Then he got a high draft number.

There was NO family influence to help him find an illegal way out. And he didn't send a thousand Americans off to die.

10. You're right.
He didn't really "dodge" the draft. He was a student and he was also agonizing over whether he should make arangements to serve stateside, but he did draw a high number - it's not like he was hiding in Canada for 10 years.
What Clinton did was more honest and upfront than what Cheney and Junior did, and yet he's called a draft dodger as though that's the whole story. I bet Bush and Cheney didn't spend 10 minutes total thinking about the morality of the war and how they felt about fighting it. They just knew they weren't going to. Other prioritites and all...

...not about Clinton or Kerry, though.

News anchoress was segueing from the story about the monster pickup truck to the automatic gun ban: "When you get your pickup, do you want an automatic weapon with that?"

Having just been to the visitation for an acquaintance who died in a shooting over Labor Day weekend (16-year-old arrested for the murder), I did not find her lame attempt at humor successful.

on edit: grammar fix

23. They're such hypocrites. Clinton vs Cheney.
Clinton was not a draft-dodger. A draft-dodger is one who's number is called and they high-tail it to Canada. What Clinton did was 100% legal. He got a deferment to go to Oxford. Then, after that he pulled a high draft number and never got called because the war was basically over.

Cheney, on the other hand, was a bit older and therefore much more at risk during the entire war. He got FIVE deferments. FIVE.

So, if Fox says Clinton is a draft-dodger, then Cheney is a FIVE TIME DRAFT DODGER.

But, of course, FAUX would never point that fact out.
