http://usinfo.org/wf-archive/2001/011207/epf510.htm

"Mr. President, all indications are that in the interest of our own national security, Saddam Hussein must be removed from power. Let us maximize the likelihood of a rapid victory by beginning immediately to assist the Iraqi opposition on the ground inside Iraq by providing them money and assistance already authorized and appropriated..." - -----Dec 7, 2001 letter to Shrub.

7. He may be liberal for Tennessee but it doesnt surprise me
A member of both the DLC, and House Blue Dogs who I really dont hear a lot about on the boards. He's trying to position himself so he can run for office statewide I suppose, I wish he'd be more like how I read his father was.

9. I had stopped listening to him a while back
I was a big Ford supporter for a good while. But his commentary was starting to sound like collaborationist bullshit. This confirms it for me.

10. This guy is exactly what Howard Dean was talking about.......
when he went after "Bush Lite" Democrats. I've watched Ford on all the networks now and he is so disappointing. There really is little difference between Bush and Ford.

11. He "coulda been a contender"
Attractive and intelligent - he had a brilliant future but 'he lacked the one thing that would have made him stand out - courage.

16. Hee, Hee! You know Obama is driving him nuts!
Serves the ass hat right!

Poor widdle Harold is going to be so sad when Obama becomes the star of the Dem party. Harold always believed that the was going to be that person. His ego has always been out of control.

Just makes me love Obama even more!

18. Obama is in Chicago. Ford is in Tennessee.
Think that might have just a little something to do with the difference between the two men?

19. Yes, but he represents a strongly democratic district in Tennessee
which is the 9th district which covers almost all of Memphis (the city is heavily democratic with pockets of red in the affluent sections of the city. I can't tell you how many Bush / Cheney signs when traveling through these areas on my way to class).

I can't stand him either but I believe he has eyes on a Senate seat here to answers someone's question a few posts up.

20. And he has the most liberal voting record in the state.
Any more liberal and he'd be marginalizing himself.

And yes, I believe he has stated, quite openly, that he's going after the seat Bill Frist is retiring from in 2006. Good riddance to Frist, and let's hope Ford wins the seat, something he'd have no chance of doing with a wild eyed voting record.
