Because he turned his life over to his Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, is now redeemed and all his previous transgressions are under the blood. Trust me--I've been in this arena since early childhood (almost 60 years ago now) and that is exactly how they would respond. As to the bottle of booze he's caressing, I'm not sure what that's about but if he's to on the verge of sinning again, he needs to but ask and all will be forgiven. As to the stupidity...well, nothing covers that, IMHO.
