So... how did that conservative film festival go?

DALLAS—The opening night of the American Film Renaissance, the nation's "first and only" conservative film festival, featured an African-American pianist sitting in a ballroom of Dallas' InterContinental Hotel and playing "As Time Goes By." On Saturday and Sunday, aspiring right-wing auteurs suggested that if we could just get back to the values of Casablanca—you know, Nazism, adultery, casino gaming—the studios would make movies worth watching again. "We're seeing the rise of conservative film," said Alan Lipton, the co-director of a short called Operation Eagle Strike. "We're so pro-Israel that I'm sure we'll have plenty of friends in Hollywood."

Here's a list of the films that were shown.

http://www.afrfilmfestival.com/films.html

Looks like some mega blockbusters here, including:

Michael and Me - WORLD PREMIERE!
By Larry Elder
In response to Michael Moore's Bowling for Columbine, soon-to-be television talk show host Larry Elder teaches Mr. Moore a thing or two about the second amendment.

Michael Moore Hates America - WORLD PREMIERE!
By Mike Wilson
This much-anticipated documentary not only challenges Mr. Moore's radical left-wing propaganda, but it also tells the truth about a great nation.

Operation Eagle Strike
By Kfir Alfia and Alan Davidson of Protest Warrior
Who says that the left doesn't hate? What happened when a few courageous conservatives infiltrated a left-wing anti-war rally.

And, everyone's favorite...

DC/911: Time of Crisis
A Showtime Production, by Lionel Chetwynd, starring Timothy Bottoms
An inside look at the courage and decisiveness of President Bush in the minutes, hours, and days following America's worst tragedy.

Is it True What They Say About Ann?
By Patrick Wright

You've read her bestsellers and watched her take on the left, now see conservative thinker Ann Coulter as you've never seen her before.

:puke:

Is this for real?

Playing George W. Bush in a right-wing docudrama. At least you know when you've hit bottom.

america's first conservative Film festival

right before the election

right in the heart of hollywood

& there's nothing michael moore can do about it.

I honestly don't think Michael Moore really gives a shit about it.

But I'd better put it in the DU calendar.

NOT!

7. Right in the middle of "boy's town"
I bet the conservatives showing up for this event are very nervous and have locked the doors to their cars.

I bet if they were to drop something on the way to the theater they'd be afraid to bend over and pick it up.

15. Did anyone see on the Daily Show
when Samantha Bee did a segment with the guy making "Michael Moore hates America"? He was trying to meet Michael Moore all over NYC, and Michael Moore was lurking in the background, and in the end Samantha Bee calls him from the film maker guy's hotel room and meets him for lunch. It was quite funny and the guy making the movie was a total dick. He's also a freeper.

16. As far as I know I think it may have been a bust. Especially the venue
Edited on Tue Sep-14-04 01:08 AM by anarchy1999
they chose to hold it at and there was a really big festival being held in Grapevine. The annual Grapevine Festival. I think they may have tanked. Especially since they were being covered by Channel 5. There was at the same moment in time a Democracy Festival Film Fest being held at the Magnolia Lounge at Fair Park.

Anyone want to come and join us all in Dallas, it's one hell of a picnic. Just a bit of sarcasm there, we will come and work for free anywhere but here.

We want to head south, we fear between the voting machines and everything else in place that Bush is going to win. We don't want to stay in country if this administration is not held accountable and stay in control. We love you all but we don't want to end our lives in a camp for dissidents (sp?). See you over the border. Who likes to grow stuff, coffee, tomatoes, etc?

Oh and by the way I have some really great pics of Kfir Alfia and Alan Davidson of Protest Warrior from Friday afternoon in front of Belo Headquarters. Let me know if I need to post them up. Apparently, since they made the front page of the Dallas Observer last week, they (the founders) have come to believe that their Dallas Chapter is Number 1. Their action against us is featured on the front page of their website. Unfortunately for them, we (the Dallas Peace Center and the rest of the groups working with the DPC), have a very good relationship with the Dallas PD. I'd love to post the pics for you all to see. The Protest Warriors got shut down this last Friday and there is more to come. One of their young women walked down our line asking for donations to the "jihad" and supporting suicide bombers. A couple of us just may decide to take this to "Homeland Security".

17. Conservatives can't do ART
they totally suck.

They aren't funny, and they aren't artistic, because ART is about expression, and Conservatives are about the polar opposite, repression.

Conservatives suck.

I have spoken.

22. Sorry, it was for real, it happened and dear Channel 5 made sure to
cover it. Orwell is rolling in his grave and the film of same name will be shown on September 29th at the Magnolia Lounge at Fair Park.

I know it is hard it wrap your head around, but yes, this was truly a film fest held this last weekend in Dallas. Channel 5 covered this one, they failed to cover the Democracy Film Fest being held at the Magnolia Lounge at Fair Park. Go Figure...........
