I'm done with morning shows.
I used to watch the Today Show for headlines while having breakfast. I didn't mind difficult questioning of my candidates or Dems because I didn't want interviews to be perceived as soft.

But Matt Lauer on The Today Show was tough on Kitty Kelley yesterday, and aggressive and brutal today. He has shown that he is part of the bought-and-paid-for GOP press. KK jokingly said she'd have to consider going into a witness protection program, but you could tell she was serious in considering that option.

I fear for freedom in my country.

2. If you think Lauer's questions make you "fear for freedom"...
I think you are over-reacting. Lauer did a good job, and so did Kelley in her responses.

9. That was my position yesterday.
I think KurtNYC has my thoughts summed up well with his comment about Lauer badgering her.

I am also concerned that the Administration called NBC and asked them not to interview KK. I am very concerned about the continuity of "free press" in the US when media-owning mega-corporations consider their bottom line over fairness.

The interview was designed to be a hatchet job from the get-go, and KK did handle herself well.

3. Lauer was badgering her
"how many of those 39 items were positive? how many?"

Kelly tries to talk

ML (cuts her off): "None of them. Not one of them... (he goes on)

It was horrible. Very O'Reilly of him. And he promised to berate her tomorrow with quotes from freeper letters.

Disgusting. I wanted her to say "Matt, you do all the positive pieces, you do nothing but positive pieces on Bush. YOU have created the market for books like mine because people now know they will never get the whole picture by just listening to you and other in this media."

about his family. I didn't hear that Matt worry about the SBV's not serving on Kerry's boat. What a phony asshole.

4. The higher up is the republican party are fascists

We all have to be afraid if * gets re-installed! I not only fear for the lives of my son's and others that might get drafted to fight in this war of greed (vs. a war of need) but I fear for the future of the world as this group of fascists have access to weapons that Hitler and his buddies only dreamed of.

5. I sent them an e-mail, too.
I think she held her own well.

Did you catch his quick and unconvincing denial about playing golf with the senior Bush? She really zinged him.

I thought it was his job to interview newsworthy people, not attack them on behalf of the Bush administration. I told him so in my e-mail.

8. I gave them up years ago
and also gave up the Sunday Morning political shows. They have been so right wing for years, ever since the attacks began on Clinton. I thought people would see through the blatant Hypocrisy of the Repugs, alas I was so very wrong.

15. Welcome aboard katmondoo
& I agree with you about watching the sheeple-vision talk shows. What a waste of time. It does amaze me that sooooo many folks can stomach such crap.... Unfortunatly, many many folks rely on such "sources" to shape their political mind set.

11. You might be surprised at how good you feel
when you finally make the decision to boycott all the `news` shows and turn your attention elsewhere like to radio or newspapers.

I used to watch shows like CNN`s Crossfire every day but recently reached my limit with their garbage and hit the OFF button. It felt great. Try it.

12. It's not like I've ignored newspapers or anything;
First I check LBN on DU, take the links to big articles, usually from several sources. I check NYT and others, and BBC World is my homepage. Sometimes even NPR gets me down in the mornings, and I usually listen to it from about 6:20 through 7:10 am, and All Things Considered, and the nooncast.
