...so much. Every transaction is being filtered by either HLS, CIA or FBI. The technology is certainly available to do this without the host knowing what is happening or being able to trace such filters.

TRIGGERING ECHELON

PHOTO BY ROGER RESSMEYER/ CORBIS

At NSA headquarters in Maryland, the world's largest information processing operation, made up chiefly of systems like the Craig supercomputer shown, monitors telephone calls and reads faxes and e-mail in search of a set of specific words thatinternational troublemakers are likely to use when they plan their evil deeds. The program that does this is supposedly called Dictionary. Our problem is that so much has been said about it, we're not convinced it isn't an urban techno-legend.

So we decided to conduct a small experiment. We've acquired a list of words that are supposed to trigger bells and whistles at NSA headquarters, jargon used in the nuclear and bioweapons industries, that sort of thing. PM editors who travel will include them in telephone conversations, faxes and e-mail sent to our managing editor.

If the FBI visits--t won't be the first time--we'll post a story on the PM.Zone. Look for follow-up stories.

5. Will Smith.... what did he do wrong?
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0120660/

>>Plot Outline: A lawyer becomes a target by a corrupt politician and his NSA goons when he accidently receives key evidence to a serious politically motivated crime. (more)

This is a fast action thriller. A Baltimore attorney (Will Smith) ends up with a video tape of a U.S. Senator being murdered by a corrupt political enemy. The bad guys need to ruin the credibility of the lawyer now on the lamb. His house is bugged; his credit cards don't work; his phone is tapped and even his shoes are bugged. A whole lot of interesting chases. And spy tapes so good it is scary. Also in the mix is Lisa Bonet, Jon Voight and Gene Hackman. This can be a little stressful watching, but worth every minute of it.<<

Oh... he knew too much.... can be a problem I 'spose.

THE SHADOW GOVERNMENT: ITS IDENTIFICATION AND ANALYSIS
by

Richard J. Boylan, Ph.D.

This is a summary report on those elements of that clandestine organizational network, (which we shall label the Shadow Government), which serves as a kind of "parallel government" to the official elected and appointed government of this country. It includes those elements known to the author with sufficient certainty that they can be positively identified, and their known or reliably reported functions described. It is distinctly possible that there are other elements, (particularly in the realms of the "Black Budget" and "Special Operations",) which have eluded our study, and are not named here.

Just as with the official government, the Shadow Government has functional branches. However, unlike the official government, the purpose of the none-executive branches of the Shadow Government is simply to distribute various functions, but not to achieve a system of checks and balances, as was supposed to happen constitutionally between the executive, legislative and judicial branches of the U.S. Government. That is because the Shadow Government is a creature of a powerful elite, who need not fear being dominated by an instrument of their own creation.

18. Specter of a police state
<snip>

FBI “anti-terror” task force targets Bush administration opponents
By the Editorial Board
18 August 2004

The Federal Bureau of Investigation has embarked on a large-scale operation to intimidate and attack opponents of the Bush administration’s war policy. In advance of the Democratic National Convention held earlier this month in Boston and the upcoming Republican convention in New York City, the FBI’s Joint Terrorism Task Force (JTTF) has mobilized agents to spy on, interrogate and threaten antiwar protesters and disrupt their activities.

In violation of basic democratic and Constitutional rights, the JTTF has placed under surveillance, and in some cases interviewed, dozens of people in at least six states about their antiwar views and actions. The JTTF’s measures have included visits to the homes and workplaces of antiwar activists, as well as to their friends and family members. In none of these cases was there any evidence of criminal activity—either committed or planned—on the part of the targeted individuals.

In keeping with Bush administration policy in the wake of the 9/11 terrorist attacks, the FBI claims the operation is warranted by the “war on terrorism,” and that this outweighs any abridgment of basic civil liberties, including the First Amendment right to free speech and association. The spying operation is, in fact, a revival of McCarthyite tactics, aimed at silencing opponents of government policy.

20. You think that the Porter Goss appointment is just a kind..
...jesture on the part of the Bushies? Read this:

<snip>

By Michael Isikoff and Mark Hosenball
Newsweek
Updated: 6:39 p.m. ET Aug. 11, 2004Aug. 11 - Rep. Porter Goss, President Bush’s nominee to head the CIA, recently introduced legislation that would give the president new authority to direct CIA agents to conduct law-enforcement operations inside the United States—including arresting American citizens.

The legislation, introduced by Goss on June 16 and touted as an “intelligence reform” bill, would substantially restructure the U.S. intelligence community by giving the director of Central Intelligence (DCI) broad new powers to oversee its various components scattered throughout the government.

But in language that until now has not gotten any public attention, the Goss bill would also redefine the authority of the DCI in such a way as to substantially alter—if not overturn—a 57-year-old ban on the CIA conducting operations inside the United States.

22. israeli spy connection with new jersey governor resignation...
<snip>

Posted by zog on August 14, 2004, 12:42 pm

I'm sure most folks here have heard the new jersey governor is resigning because of a homosexual affair. But look at this! The plot thickens!

http://www.americanreformation.org/Articles/JoeSansone/WhichFlag.htm

I Pledge Allegiance To The Flag, But Which One?

By Joe Sansone

It would not be an unusual act for a newly elected governor to repay a political operative with a high paying government job as New Jersey’s new governor, Jim McGreevey, did in the case of Golan Cipel. Cipel is the newly appointed director of New Jersey’s homeland security, a newly formed counter terrorism agency created in the fallout of September 11th.

In the world of political activism, Cipel has done well for himself. The 33 year old landed a position that pays $110,000 a year. This type of political patronage and corruption, however distasteful, is expected in the world of government and politics. After all, to the victor go the spoils.

26. Does the word "coup" apply?
<snip>

Analysis of Bush presidency suggests a nation overthrown
By Asheville Citizen-Times
Aug. 9, 2002 2:35 p.m.

Consider this: An inarticulate, politically inexperienced man with family links to a previous national regime comes to provincial leadership. Subsequently he gains the highest national office without winning the popular vote. The election in which he was declared the victor is considered compromised by his brother's province. He appoints a chief law enforcement officer who has repeatedly called for constitutional revisions. Regulatory agencies are filled with those previously regulated. Soldiers patrol transportation centers. International treaties are abrogated. International legal organizations are shunned. Roles of police and military are blurred. Law enforcement agencies are centralized. Individual civil rights are reduced. A "shadow" government is created.

Domestic surveillance is increased. People are encouraged to spy on each other. Military budgets are increased. The military establishes a disinformation program. Media access to government is limited. Consultations with the legislative branch decline. Connections to corrupt corporate sponsors are disavowed. Efforts to further plunder natural resources for profit are initiated. Access to past administrations' documents is limited. A war mentality is established with imprecise enemies. Nebulous fear- inducing alerts are periodically released. National level profiling is introduced. People are imprisoned without public charges and unknown others are "disappeared." Does the word "coup" come to mind?

Bill Petz,
