PLEASE..stop scrounging for scraps with cable news!!
Honestly, how long are people going to continue poring over the minutiae and multi layers of pure stupidity and bias on cable news, and post about how exciting it is every time some horrible pundit says something vaguely not offensive about a democrat or a liberal? How long are people going to subject themselves to the constant metaphorical beatings we as liberals and dems take every day on all3 or 4 of the cable news channels. I'm sorry but one rare moment of ludicidity and non-whoring from Tweety does not even begin to make up for his years of crap. Ditto O'Reilly and Blitzer and Zahn and Norville and any of the other so called journalists. HOw long until people realize this and stop subjecting themselves to it, and stop contributing to their ratings. Cable news ratings are horrible, and what number of viewers they do have is pumped up by dems and liberals who feel the need to "know the enemy". That's bull. We know the enemy and we know they suck and we know what kind of garbage they pull.

The fact is that if you are posting on here about something you saw on cable news, that means you have access to the internet and access to any number of more accurate and informative news sources and should be focusing your time and energy on that and on building up ammunition for campaigning in the real world.

The bottom line is: Getting either excited or angry about something on a show that pulls in 200,000 viewers in a country of 300 million people is just beyond silly. Cable news is a horrid echo chamber of the same people over and over again, bouncing from show to show and network to network, giving their already set in stone opinions to a small group of people who also have their opinions set in stone. Investing even the slightest bit of time in this stuff is time wasted.

If you need something on TV put on something mindless. If you need background noise while you're on the computer, listen to Air America or music or something. There is just no reason to watch this stuff.

Sorry for the rant. None of this is personal. I guess I just saw one too many "Oh my god (insert cable news personality name here) is being SUCH a whore today!!!"

2. Amen - and I'm not even religious!
The salivating on this board for every crumb of actual news that these whores drop on the floor for us is just pathetic. The cable "news" channels serve one purpose in my eyes - to be ignored and occasionally laughed at.

3. On the other hand....
there seems to be something of a demand for minute to minute news. Its too bad internet video streaming (for news, not porn) hasn't caught on more. Watch for everything to change within the next decade.

4. Honestly, I can get that almost anywhere on the internet...
I'd even feel better about people going to CNN or MSNBC's websites than actually watching them. At least on the web sites it's up to the minute news without as much of the opinion aspect (although that is still there).

Cable news doesn't update so frequently and without interruption that you can't get the same news almost as quick on the internet.

5. I take solace in your argument in that the truth is out there just not
on cable. I am one of the guilty and I find myself cursing at the "idiot box" for the lies and lack of honest journalism out there.

I guess I am just hoping against all hope that there will be an open and very public revelation of all the lies and a very humiliating repudiation of Bushco*. I guess I will have to wait til Nov. 2

10. This reminds me of a phone survey I participated a in a few months ago:
Age: "23-30" (Just barely made that one)

"Sex: "Take a guess" (BTW - my voice cannot be confused)

Annual Household Income: "100,000 and up" (not really a lie if you consider that I live with my parents and you combine my father's, mother's, sister's, and my income - although I don't know if that's what she meant)

Industry: "Financial"

Which cable news channel would you say that you watch the most and how much: "Please clarify - I'm not sure that I have any actual news channels"

You don't get CNN, MSNBC, FOX Ne... "Oh, that. No. I don't watch any of that"

How about Network news CBS, ABC, NB... "None"

Sunday Morning Political commentary such as Meet the Pre... "Not a second of it"

Do you even have cable? "Satellite + TiVo"

What do you watch for political commentary? "The Daily Show is pretty good. It's kind of funny how in a half hour they've got more actual news than on 24 hours of the cable news shows. I also like to watch Washington Journal while I get ready for work. That's about it from TV"

You know, I've heard very similar responses from more than a few people: "I'm not surprised."

That's all the questions I have, thank you very much. "Any time"

11. That's how I feel.
I kept watching cable news for an occasional bite of something anti-Bush among the tremendous pro-Bush bunk.

About five months ago I decided, enough-is-enough, and cancelled my tv service.

I'm glad I did.
