Message from Baghdad
Edited on Tue Sep-14-04 09:43 PM by mmonk
My wife's cousin's son (in the military) talked to his parents from Baghdad. He said the situation is worse than is being told in American media (this was two days ago). I guess the media is finally reporting more as of late, but this is telling from someone who is there. He's just a kid. What a shame.

1. well the american "pravda" media has decided that since we handed
over a piece of paper ...that the "boy king" need not be bothered.

It's sad and disgusting.

2. This is so sad to hear from these young kids
There is another thread about the excellent reporting Walter Rogers is doing from Baghdad for CNN. (only reason to watch them these days, IMO)

Lately, he is making it pretty clear this is a disaster on all fronts and that civil war is this close to breaking out. God help us and the Iraqi people.

4. Seymour Hersh said it's worse than bad....
Higher military personnel talking to Hersh are pissed and not happy with the killing of Americans, not happy with the no exit strategy. Hersh cannot name the military personnel, but said they blame the 8, 9 central figures in the bush administration who engineered this war in 2001. He named Wolfowitz, Rumsfelt, Cheney, and bush as the rubber stamper. The dangerous part is that this small group believe that what they are doing is right and 99% of the world is wrong.

5. Thanks for the information....
I am very concerned... the Greenville National Guard is part of the 107th... and are scheduled to leave Oct. 30th... the Armory is just up the hill from us and it saddens me to see them getting ready for the tour. We have heard that they will be gone for a year to a year and a half.

My Brother lives in L'Anse Mich... and the local Guard Unit is also leaving.

7. My nephew is in Iraq, part of the stop loss order
It's looking like a full scale insurrection over there and not just cells of "Thugs, deadenders, freedom haters" as the dod likes to spin it.

8. Does he even have access to US media, or just Stars & Stripes & AFN?
Seems like they would be limiting things over there.

Hope he makes it back OK.

9. My heart goes out to him
and you, and his parents, and ALL our military and their families. All of this is so criminal.
