1. It's close
Kerry has the fourth grade vote, but those fifth graders sure seem to favor Bush.

My own fifth grade class is solidly in the Kerry camp, although Bush was gaining ground last time we checked.

4. My kid voted at school last week.
She's in Second Grade. She came home Friday and said, "Mom, I voted for Kerry today." I did a double take and said, "Whaaa?????" We then had a discussion about it.

She said she knows that her Dad and I do not like Bush, but that the rest of her class had voted for Bush... I said, "Well, did you vote for Kerry because of your Dad and I? She thought for a minute. Finally she said, "No, I voted for Kerry because I think everybody should have a job if they want one."

I about fell over on that one. I was unemployed for a year and worked here at home doing freelance graphic design and ad work. She had heard me any number of times bitching about the economy and the lack of jobs. She had also heard me saying that as long as the idiot is in the White House it will stay this way.

Of all the things we discuss in this house--all the daily news and politics and issues--the one thing that had impacted her most was the economy and unemployment. My seven year old gets it--WTF is wrong with the rest of this nation???

She also told me that one other kid out of the fourteen in her class also voted for Kerry. I had to giggle--this is a family that has done a lot to support my husband in his campaign this year. They are another union household like us.

By all means--do go vote with your kids--just be sure you understand what issues they are voting on!

Laura

5. Only 600 votes separate
Bush in a narrow lead.

Hey DU'ers, vote for your kid, even if it has wings or four legs and a tail...

The kids seem to have thrown the traditional electoral math out the window (Bush is winning in New York, Kerry in Alabama).

EDIT: spelling.
