The real fallout from the memos and CBS
What is it that is lacking from news media? Independent investigation and perspective. It is cheaper, and one keeps from being criticized, by inviting one from the left and one from the right to bicker, and then conclude with some lame statement about the argument continuing on. Nothing said that could end up being wrong, nothing said at all, just putting mouthpieces on.

Except for those shows that only have one side on.

So CBS and Rather go out on a limb and take a position.

Next time, expect Rather to have a liberal and a conservative take turns bloviating over whatever it is that is going on and leaving it at that. True, nobody is going to miss inaccurate reporting, but the baby has been thrown out with the bathwater.

1. It may be more forboding than you think.
CBS may fear looking like it's favoring kerry.

The worse may happen which is start favoring Bush in it's coverage so they can say "SEE!?!?! We are fair!"

And Poof! Another FOX.

Tree

2. It could get worse than that
The goppers want Rather fired. That would send a signal to all other TV journalists that messing with the Bush cabal is a career ender. The goppers are also doing all they can to destroy CBS News completely. If they can get CBS they'll try to get all the others next.

4. Hey, FOX News has interviewed Burkett before, I wouldn't be....
...surprised if one of their talking heads provided Burkett with the forged documents.

6. When do the ratings for CBS come out?
I am now a regular fan...No channel surfing anymore when Dan is on. I will continue to watch, and feel an obligation to patronize their sponsors. I would imagine that there are others like me. (Listen up, CBS)

500,000 anti-bush activists were in the streets during the RNC. I wonder if they would rather watch CBS or Faux?

IMO: Dan's courage to face the raging republican slime machine counterbalances a lapse in journalistic integrity, especially after tonight's broadcast.

I'm waiting for bush* and the republicans to apologize for starting a WAR based on FORGED DOCUMENTS and BOGUS INFORMATION!!! At least Dan Rather didn't get anyone killed or start any unnecessary wars.
