Only the psychos on the Orwellian Right could gleefully justify the impeachment of a President because he was embarrassed to publicly admit an affair... yet cheer on Bush who ignored warnings about terrorist attacks on the nation, lied to the nation about Saddam's WMDs and connections to Al Quida... broke international treaties to launch an illegal invasion of a sovereign state... alienated the Arabs/Muslims of the world leading many to believe Christian fundie Bush is leading the US in a crusade against the Muslim world... let nut-case neo-cons over-rule the state department's post-war planning... bogged down our military in a senseless war destabilizing a strategic part of the world... created more enemies when we should have been ratcheting down tensions... enacted irresponsible tax cuts and in the process created more debt in 4 years than the nation did in it's first 204 years...
If central to the concept of being Orwellian is believing the opposite is true from the obvious... then I fear that the Democratic Party is also living some Orwellian lies. One would think that any Party claiming to be democratic would have some driving imperative to promote democratic values. Yet on the federal level the US is an anti-democratic system which deprives citizens of votes that are weighed equally. The presidency and senate both can represent minorities of US citizens. There are no constitutional protections against minority obstructionism or minority rule. The Democrats use Gerrymandering just as much as the Right does.
Where's the evidence the so-called Democratic Party is in anyway leading the fight for democracy? Hell, most can't even rationally discuss the anti-democratic nature of our system.
