We're not Lemming's
What's with the mass emigration to Canada?

Stop and think. Some of us have brains lets use them.

We don't need to leave the Country.

We may have to work for what we want and need.

It wont be easy. It never was or will be.

So turn your self around, stand shoulder to shoulder and do everything with in YOUR POWER to make this a place worth living.

We own it and they can't take it from us with out a fight!

1. Whoever was the first depressed person to post this crap is an ass hole

They just stir up the fears of others who are lurking. Depressed people, go to bed and get a prescription for Prozac for God's sake! It works well, trust me.

3. I agree 100%
When people say they will leave this country they are giving up and that's just what they want you to do is give up. I will never give up and I will never leave this country I love. I will go down fighting and that's not what they want to hear!

4. What is this depression you all are talking about?
Bush is not going to be any where near the White House come January.

That is the truth. Period.

5. Well...here's my personal story
I've been fretting and worrying all through this election. My husband thinks I'm over-reacting. We've have many discussions over this. He truly is my grounding force in things and falls really does to definition of Independant though he's a registered Dem. He knows history like it's trivia and can argue a point from a historical perspective with facts from both sides of an issue.

We live in a highly concentrated Republican area. We moved away from a highly concentrated Republican area (but not for political reasons). My parents a staunch Republicans. As for him, his mother was staid Republican Catholic...Dad was non-Catholic (Christian) but more Indy. We've been married 24 years this October, despite mother desperately trying to undermine us at every turn before we were married. God rest her soul, I've forgiven her for the things she did and said.

This election is too important on so many levels. In a nutshell--I've told him that if Bush wins, I think we seriously need to consider moving out of the country and taking the our kids with us if they want to come (which I think they will). I'm haven't yet decided which country.

He (finally) told me this past weekend that if I feel that strongly, he'd go with me. I wasn't really sure whether he meant it or was appeasing me until tonight when he said we'd have to start saving if I was serious we are going to move. I told him I'm serious. We need to flee.

So...I'm only 45 years old. But if Bush wins, it's over. I've been fighting for rights and a better future for the next generation all of my life. If Bush is elected, it's time for us to go. I don't know if we'll be able to afford it, but we'll find a way--I hope.

In the past, I've always had hope that things can be overcome. That good will always overcome bad and evil. But I'm convinced that if Bush is not out of power, it's time for my family to find a place we can re-build our lives with a better hope of freedom and fundamental rights as human beings. If Bush is elected, I just simply don't see that promise of opportunity, freedom, rights, or security.

I can't express how sad it makes me that the promise of America will be broken if George W. Bush is elected. I only hope that some day I'll be able to return to the country of my birth with all of the freedom and opportunity our forefathers envisioned.

6. C'mon...you talk like Kerry has lost.
And he hasn't and won't!

I know you are frustrated, as are many on this board, but we must stay positive and we must stay focused.

Thinking about fleeing the country is not staying focused. In that rare case that * successfully steals the election again, then we can start brainstorming on where to go. But until then, you must BUCK UP!!

Please don't give up. Go to your local Democratic HQ. Make phone calls. Walk the precincts. Get involved. It will energize you (as it has for me) and it will keep you focused on the task at hand which is to see Kerry in office and win a victory for the American people!

You can do it! You can do it! Hang in there!

8. I'm trying! And haven't given up yet
I joined our local Dem chapter (which is another story in itself). I've volunteered myself for whatever they need me...I don't have a day job so I'm available and still I haven't received a call for helping out.

I'm not giving up yet...I'm still hopeful Kerry will sweep everything! Hearing him and seeing him like tonight on Letterman always helps. :) I was Dean in the primaries, but I'm Kerry all the way for President.

I've tried to get involved. I signed up (TWICE!!) with our local Dems for whatever they need me to do. I've written LTTEs, I've written to mainstream news organizations. I can't given money, but I have TIME. I ordered the Kerry bumber stickers and put one on my front windshield, one on the back, one's in hubby's front windshield and another is on my son's vehicle (seven left to find a home!). Around here, Hastert Country...that's a huge statement. :bounce: I put a note up in our state forum for a meetup locally  *beats head on wall*

Don't get me wrong. I'm not ready to give up the fight and won't give up until Nov. 3rd. :) I just need a Plan B just in case.

7. If I go it will be to Japan.
I lived there for many years, my wife is a citizen. Quality of life is good there, universal health care, good transit, safe, people are kind.

I love my country, but I owe it to my children to give them as decent an upbringing as possible. If the US keeps sliding toward a Mexico-style economy of a few haves, and hordes of desparate have-nots, and the violence and poverty attendant, I will have no choice.

If I go it will not be about making a cute political statement. It will be about my kids' ability to grow up free and fed, or maybe to even grow up at all.
