JUST WATCHED KERRY ON LETTERMAN
It is amazing that some many people are so stupid they cannot see the quality difference between a man who can think and speak and who has a record of accomplishment as compared to an underachiever chicken who is a stranger to the English Language who who cannot think on his feet.
Watching Kerry was marvelous!!!! PLEASE GOD, LET HIM WIN.

1. He looked and sounded great
I've been kinda skeptical about the whole "Closer" mystique but he certainly looked ready to sprint.

Impressive.

3. By the way, welcome to DU. I thought Kerry was impressive tonight,
and it gave me pause. Why won't Bush come out and be on these different programs? You would think he would, right? Just a question, that's all, it might give others pause as well though.

14. He was great
and yes...sexy. That smile. Doesn't he look great when he smiles?

He needs to hit television like no tomorrow now and do it again and again.

6. Kerry was AWESOME!!!
I liked that he got some of the same message across with different language than he usually uses in his speech. It made him seem more relaxed. I love seeing him joke and enjoy himself. I also loved the top ten list. Letterman asked all the right questions too.

9. I missed it!
I had to work. I'm so happy to see that Kerry was on though! Shows like this really help voters get an idea about a person's personality and character. How did he do? Was he funny or serious?

10. I think he was OK
It wasn't a slam dunk, but a passable basket that will count towards the final score. He was real, personable and made good points. All in all I think it was a measured and steady performance on his part and I'm glad he did well.

++++
In response to Cheney's comments, Kerry adviser Joe Lockhart said that the Bush administration has ignored the harsh reality of Iraq, and cited a recent National Intelligence Estimate that advanced a pessimistic assessment about the future security and stability of Iraq.

"John Kerry won't divert our resources on misadventures like Iraq and will fight (the war on terrorism) in a way that is both strong and smart, which this administration has failed to do," Lockhart said.

13. John Kerry On Letterman - "expert" analysis
It was very good.

Two mistakes : Get rid of the line about how Bill Clinton was the "only Democrat to win 2 consecutive terms in 60 years".

Why say that? How does it strengthen the Democratic position?

#2 - Look, Kerry coming out and saying he would NOT have gone into Iraq is GOOD. It is what people have been waiting for.

But......He did SO well at pushing back on Republican lies about him tonight...but he was handed a SOFTBALL about the 87 billion vote.....Letterman gave him a complete opening to say:

" NO, I voted FOR it if we PAID for it out of the Bush tax cuts to the top 1%...., the Republicans were AGAINST that and only wanted to vote for a bill That passed on the costs to future generations...."

That is a WINNER position that people can understand.....instead he said "Sure, I voted against it, I'm glad I did....", and only offered a meek reason about how it was being spent.

HE MISSED IT. He has to smack that ball when the opportunity comes up

But otherwise, it was very good, and of course it's no choice when you have an intelligent human being vs a smirking lying creep, but he could have handled those two much better.

SEND THIS to the campaign ASAP!!!!

11. I thought he was good too.
The top ten list seemed to be in inverse order, since number one "mortgaging our future" was too true and too sad to be funny.

Otherwise, he did great.

16. He Was Excellent - Live, Unedited Excellent

Bet Mr. Bush's appearance on O'Reilly will be heavily edited. Heavily.

Kerry was funny, and strong.

Great at unpacking the explanation on the senate's vote to authorize Bush to have ability to go to war -- not a vote to go to war.

Explained that Bush had judgements to make - and made poor judgments.

Said Bush said war was a last resort, Bush said vote on IWR did not mean war was inevitable.

17. Stayed up past my bed time too......thought he did great.....but....
2 very picky comments.

He kept saying "Look the fact is......." It's a small point, but for some reason got irritating after about the 5th time he used the phrase.

The other small point was he would begin answering a direct question and then would change course in mid-sentence as if another thought came to him, but it wasn't always on point.

Overall, thought it was a great appearance, showed him to be a relaxed, comfortable, person definitely not in panic mode.
