Republican Senator Says He May Not Support Bush

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - U.S. Sen. Lincoln Chafee (news, bio, voting record), a Republican moderate from Rhode Island, said on Monday he might not vote for President Bush (news - web sites) in the Nov. 2 election.






Chafee stressed, however, that he has no plans to bolt his party, and that if he does not back Bush he will write in the name of another Republican.

Glad he sees the light but it`s kinda pathetic that hes writing in a name rather then vote for kerry. (especially if he writes in bush srs name)

1. Nothing pathetic about him...

announcing such a decision, and this far from the election too. A republican, not voting for *, is, as a matter of fact, a vote for Kerry. And he may well give more principled rethugs the idea to do the same.

3. Some repubs...

for whatever reason, simply will not vote Democratic, it is not in their blood or something. A Stupid position? Yes. A fact that cannot be denied? Also yes. I will gladly take it however, and most of the repubs I know are going with the not voting stance. All in all, it works for me.

That's it! A lot of Republicans are not happy with Bush. Republicans are punitive voters so those that are unhappy should do a write in Campaign for say....McCain or something...

That would be way cool....get 2-3% write ins on the GOP side Kerry wins buy even larger margin...
