5. Most excellent response.
If the wingnuts have got their panties in a wad over using forged documents in a news story, what better way to point out their hypocrisy?

4. AT least it's 65% no 34% yes....so far!
I must admit, I am very sad that Rather stuck his neck out, and appears now to have to hang it in shame. I still think the older reporters are so much better tahn the younger ego freaks. Too bad this much scrutiny isn't foisted upon all the others for their erroneous & sometimes fraudulent stories!

6. It's the CBS producer is the one who should be fired
Seems like some basic rules of journalism were broken here. Knowing that they had neither the original documents nor the original source, the producer should have passed.

9. You mean , like the 16 minutes of SOTU? yellow cake thingy?
That only led to a war after all - who got fired? (and the story, unlike here, was wrong)

10. And Geraldo Rivera- too--
Anybody remember what Geraldo did on December 6th, 2000?
In a Dec. 6, 2000-televised report, correspondent Geraldo Rivera said he was on "hallowed ground" in Afghanistan where "friendly fire took so many of ... our men and the mujahedeen yesterday." But Rivera later acknowledged that he was several hundred miles from the site. Rivera said he had confused the Kandahar deaths with another "friendly fire" incident that cost several Afghan lives in Tora Bora, but Pentagon information showed the Tora Bora incident occurred at least three days after Rivera's Dec. 6 report.
Gee--that would have been a LIE, wouldn't it?

12. If Rather resigns...
All the whorish war pig newsreaders should resign or be purged from our airwaves. Personally, I think they should be tarred and feathered for helping Bush drag this country into war, but that's just me.

Do you guys know what's going to happen if Rather is forced to resign over this? No one will dare come out with anything derogatory against * again. I'm livid right now.

20. Yeah, why does Chris Vlasto still have a job, then?
Or John Stossel? If Rather is supposed to resign, he's at the tail end of a very long line of folks who should be duck-walked off the plank long before him.

CBS' Rather Apologizes for Suspect Documents

CBS executives and anchorman Dan Rather say they were misled about documents on President Bush's National Guard duty. Rather has apologized for using what turned out to be suspect documents in a story on President Bush's military service. NPR's Neda Ulaby reports.

(This next one is god too.)

527 Groups

So-called 527 groups are receiving a lot of attention lately for their big spending this political season. But there's another breed of tax-exempt organizations getting less attention. 501c4s are spending millions of dollars on various campaigns, and some experts say most of these groups are simply fronts for corporate interests.

17. I wish he would
Rather retires next year anyway. If he resigns now, he takes a lot of wind out of the only thing the Repugs have to talk about, and they'd have to go back to the issues. Then they'd be screwed, and we could all get drunk on President Kerry's inauguration day.

18. I thought he should resign yesterday but on further
thinking on this thing,I believe CBS and Rather should do a press conference and take questions on the contents only of the memo since they are not in question. Rather should have said yesterday that when the independent council finishes their report, if an apology was warranted they would issue one for the entire saga and not just for the papers itself, now they may have to issue another apology after the investigation, bad move yesterday CBS. If CBS doesn't put up some viable information to counteract this debacle they are history for now and maybe they will never make a serious return. I sure hope they know what they are loosing. Each time they falter they become less reliable and trustworthy. "One that does not stand for something will fall for anything".

21. Didn't CNN show a photoshopped picture of Kerry?
with rabbit ears. How does this mistake rise so far beyond that level?

Fox has their viewers believing that Irag did 911 and that WMD were found. Shouldn't they all resign?

Bill O'Reilly recently apologized:
The anchor of his own show on Fox News said he was sorry he gave the U.S. government the benefit of the doubt that former Iraqi leader Saddam Hussein's weapons program poised an imminent threat, the main reason cited for going to war.

"I was wrong. I am not pleased about it at all and I think all Americans should be concerned about this," O'Reilly said in an interview with ABC's "Good Morning America."

No one asked O'Reilly to resign.

24. My letter to their editor
Should Dan Rather resign? Dan Rather didn't lead the nation into a war based on forged documents and outright lies that's killed and maimed thousands.

Let's see this appointed disgrace in the White House produce a receipt that said he peed in a cup in Alabama as he was ordered to in 1973, before we consider whether Dan Rather should resign.
