1. The trigger happy, both left and right
seem to spend long hours daydreaming about using thier lethal toys in some glorious revolution....

and every once in a while some charmer like this takes that horseshit seriously and kills a postman, or worse...

Sorry, couldn't resist.

Guy strikes me as more of a plain old nut than a gun nut. A true gun nut would have been better armed than this guy was.

18. Most people who know me like me
Some are scared of the goatee, some of the ponytail, others of the gun collection, but once they talk to me they come to the conclusion that I'm a nice person.

9. I have shot a Serbu BFG-50 from the shoulder - not too bad
Why don't you shoot that from the shoulder?

Because I had the option of shooting the AR-50 from a tripod. Much less stress on my 46-year-old frame.

Whats that in the back ground?

M249 Squad Automatic Weapon.

15. It belongs to a machinegun dealer I know in Nevada
He's in the business of selling automatic weapons to police departments and National Guard units.

The SAW is real, just like the ones the Army and Marines use. I've fired it. It's a blast.

Slackmaster's been here a loooong time. Credentials. Me, I kind of like the idea that some liberals are armed. And I myself would never own one (well, not until the collapse of western civ because of oil peak, that is...)

17. "I have shot a Serbu BFG-50
Whats it weigh?
Several years ago i fired a single shot 50 at Camp Pendleton, it weighed 22lbs. Put nine rounds through it. It didn't recoil near as bad as i expected it to.

40. The BFG-50 weighs about 22 lbs. unloaded
Recoil was IMO similar to a 3-inch magnum 12-gauge shotgun, but less sharp.

35. I was pretty consistently in the black at 500 yds.
I believe that's an 8- or 9-inch circle. I'm sure that with good hand-loaded ammo and some practice a good shot could do much better.

37. Oh, yeah!
That's a good group, I'd be happy with it at that range.

I used to practice on a MUCH smaller scale....

.177 air rifle on a 10-meter indoor range. Got to where I could put 9 more pellets in the hole the first one made.

Those were fun days. Wish I still had that rifle, it was a very good one.

41. Rifle is an ArmaLite AR-50 with the buttstock removed
Edited on Wed Sep-22-04 09:59 AM by slackmaster
Single-shot bolt-action 50-caliber target rifle with a nice scope.

It's mounted on an old German machinegun tripod. The tripod has a spring recoil-absorbing system. The buttstock is not needed, and I believe there's no way to mount the rifle on that tripod with the buttstock installed. It's a great setup, almost a bench-rest configuration, but it's certainly not very portable or concealable. :D

On edit: Looks like DUers may have put me over my monthly bandwidth allocation for that image. Sorry.
