Women in Iraqi prisons......Only 2 !!
We are not negotiating with terrorist to secure the release of the now dead hostages.

The demand was.. "release from prison ALL Iraqi women."

According to the U.S., the coalition is only holding 2!

"America says it has only two women prisoners in Iraq - both chemical weapons experts from Saddam Hussein's regime."

http://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/tm_objectid=14668874&method=full&siteid=89488&headline=blair--i-can-t-save-your-hostage-dad-name_page.html

but what about this......

"The main center for the detention of women has been the women’s prison at Al-Rusafah in Umm Qasr, one of the three at the complex. Gali Hassan, an Australian professor and activist, cites an Iraq Occupation Watch estimate that at one time there were as many as 625 women prisoners in Al-Rusafah and 750 in Al-Kazimah alone, <3> including girls of twelve and women in their sixties, nearly all held as security detainees, i.e., or their value in providing information. In most cases, they were arrested simply because of their relationship to a male who was of interest to the coalition (that is, accused of being part of the resistance, funding it, or being knowledgeable about it). Holding the relatives of suspects of course is an outright violation of the Geneva Conventions. In addition, Iman Khammas of the Occupation Watch Center affirms that there are five unknown prisons in Iraq apart from the well-known ten, which include Abu-Ghurayb, Al-Kazimiyah, and Al-Rasafah prisons in Baghdad and Um Qasar and Al-Nasiriyah prisons. <4>

And what does the American military have to say about the women detainees? Major- General Kimmitt stated in 2004 that the “total present female criminal population” in Iraq stood at 78, but denied that there were any women detainees at Abu Ghraib. He said the Coalition prison department was “unaware” of reports of rape at Abu Ghraib, but admitted that, “there have been reports of abuses by Iraqi police in their jails.” I leave it to readers to judge why he chooses to use the word “unaware” instead of simply issuing a clear-cut denial."

And finally this blast from the recent past about the U.S. dealing with terrorists......

"The official said Saudi authorities at first turned down the gunmen’s request for safe passage. But then the militants started killing hostages, the official said. He said the Americans, who were in consultation with the Saudis, advised them to let the men go."

It's enough to make you want to join a resistance movement somewhere, anywhere.

3. I was making a joke.
Remember "the definition of IS"?

Although I can see how my comment could be taken as a serious point.

5. Yeah. I heard that story on NPR , some RW hack saying only
two women in Iraqi prisons who were both chemical weapons scientists.

Lying fucks.

We all saw the stories of women in prisons begging the insurgents to bomb the prisons so they would be killed and wouldn't continue to be sexually exploited.

Lying fucks.\

TWO? I call BULLSHIT on that.

I think that is the second most irritating thing about these bastards.

First of course is the Death and destruction for profit.

I hate being treated like a fool.

But I take comfort from knowing that they Lie for a reason.

They Have To !!!

The Average American is honest and decent. They would not tolerate the truth.

11. I also heard that on All Things Considered this afternoon
and my jaw dropped. When did they release all the women that were in custody?

The person who said it was the NPR correspondent for Baghdad, Peter Kenyon, I think.

9. Does this mean Iraqi women are ALL law abiding citizens?
Why does the U.S. have so many bad apples.

"According to the Women in Prison Project, at year-end 2002, an estimated 1,040,000 women were in criminal justice custody, either in prison or jail, or on parole or probation in the United States."

http://www.pbs.org/now/society/womenprisoners.html

let me guess its the repression the terrorist are imposing on Iraqi women......Sonn they will be free to commit crimes like free women in the U.S. can.

12. The other women prisoners are "detainees." It 's just like
being a prisoner, only because of the euphemism, people aren't supposed to care if you're being held without trial or access to your family or access to an attorney.

Being "detained" means being stuck in traffic for 20 minutes, or being in prison with no due process for 2 years.

15. So its the terrorists fault for not getting the terms right.
Edited on Tue Sep-21-04 09:18 PM by SomthingsGotaGive
If they had just said detainees they might have been released. But since they can't even get the terms straight fuck them.

16. We can't release the Iraqi women because they will tell what was done
to them. then it will really be all over. You know damn well there are more than two women being held. There was even a report that the wives and daughters of some high level Saddam officials were being held. Why must we lie about everything? Anyone who goes to Iraq to help the US thinking that the money is worth it is a fool! This government doesn't care a rat's ass about you or any of us. We are fodder and that is all. A standing army of war fodder.
