Is broadcast news on a death spiral (D Norville)
I don't believe it. Broadcast (as opposed to cable) exists FOR US, the public. Broadcast gets licences in exchange for public service, which includes news. A station can LOSE ITS LICENCE if it does not serve the public interest.

3. Broadcast televions stations can LOSE THEIR LICENCES if
they do not serve the public interest. All it takes if complaint letters both to the station and the FCC to start it. Here is an example http://www.family.org/cforum/fnif/news/a0033568.cfm

(I do not speak of cable, which is a different animal and should not be taken seriously)
