What's the deal with Dr. Phil??
Sunday, he was on the NFL pregame shows.

Monday, he was on The Today Show interviewing the Kerrys and Bushes about their families.

Now I see he is going to be on CNN's Newsnight with Aaron Brown tonight.

Is he the all knowing 'expert' on everything these days?

3. He's a total dick
he did a show on the war around the time of shrub in the flight suit. they had a lot of rah rah yeah war people on and some opposed to the war, Dr. Phil turned that into a "Lets bash the liberals forum". I wish Kerry wasn't going on with. Dr. Phil is a snake oil salesman.

14. Let's see... is Dr. Phil a Republican...
1. Rich? Check.

2. Rich Texan? Check.

3. Fad pop psychologist, into patient humiliation, but not quite Dr. Laura? Check.

4. Former jury consultant representing corporate interests? Check.

5. Made his money the old-fashioned way - dumb luck? Check.

6. Believes in variations of the Atkins diet? Check. ignore... just some illogical litmus test of mine

Although I have no proof, I'm thinking Bushie. The only thing I'm absolutely sure of is that we will one day look back at him fondly, while watching "I Loved the '00s" on VH1, and saying to our friends, "I always wondered what happened to that idiot! Hey, remember Dr. Joyce Brothers? Me either. But, ya know, Dr. Ruth was actually kind of cool..."

5. yeah - the today show bit bugged me
When asked about parenting between * and Kerry, he likened their skills to their campaign approaches: something like * was more hands on and involved, while Kerry tried really hard - but couldn't be there as much because of the divorce. It was a lame jab at Kerry, and a pathetic pat for *. While I realize that they are older (and hopefully wiser) I can't imagine the Kerry girls ever acting like the "tator tots". So unless Kerry's ex is an extremely exceptional mother ... Kerry seems to have done a damn fine job, divorce or not.

8. Oh and Dr. Phil is aweful aweful aweful aweful aweful.
I hate him.

He and people like him are the reason why legitimate psychology gets ignored, underfunded, and misunderstood.

He is a philosopher, not a scientist.

11. He is an arrogant a$$hole who makes
a ton of money from truly disturbed people. Many worship and breath his words the way they would a fundamental preacher, scary man.

He's hardcore and dares anybody criticize his methods, sounds like a few other famous people we know.

:puke:

12. I watch him as a comedian
. . . sort of like when I used to watch Father Guido Sarducci (whatever happened to him). Father Guido was NOT a priest, certainly, but he knew enough to look like one and let slip all kinds of inside jokes about the priesthood. In that same way Dr. Phil has his family counselling terminology. Usually an assortment of "You have a right to FEEL that way, but NOT a right to DO what you want."

He parlayed a career as a juror consultant into America's family counselling guru. For so many Americans, he gives them the idea that telling the blunt truth in the bluntest terms is always right no matter the situation. And that if the other party doesn't receive your message . . . that's on them.

Not exactly the most effective brand of therapy there is.
