1. No real way of knowing down here in Baton Rouge
But we have TWO stations that broadcast pro-Bush commercials 24/7. The only callers are white males with rural accents and not much command of grammar. They think all Democrats are communists.

Since local Arbitron ratings can't be accessed except by media outlets who pay for them, no one really knows how well they're doing. All I know is it's usually the same four or five restaurants and car dealerships that advertise on them over and over. And tons of public service ads.

2. I do not know but they seem to be on every station
I do not drive much or turn on the radio much any more. I play tapes as the talk shows after 5 min. get to me. I hear a new one now that is a church one. It is really to get Bush in but in a Church way. When I was a kid the school I went away to had to go to church and once in mass we got up and walked out the place was so bad. Now the guy seems to be talking on talk radio. They are just awful. I am to old to put up with white racist telling me how to live.

3. I used to think they had more influence
than I do now. Really hard to tell how much because for the most part they're preaching to the choir.

They do have some sway, and probably get the base fired up to vote.

Where I live, one of the more moderate, libertarian oriented AM guys switched to Air America and has the morning drive time slot. Totally anti-Bush and probably brought a lot of his audience with him.

4. in Seattle, more or less
The most listened to stations are right wing, which are the most predominant over all the airways, but we have the occasional moderate such as Dave Ross.

I personally think the right-wingers just listen to their own kind and raise their ire. It's hard to believe a neutral person could listen to that drivel and say, "Oh, yes!" But, maybe that's what we do here at DU. At least we only read, not listen to, each other.

God forbid when DU posts are available on audio!!!!
