Edited on Wed Sep-22-04 10:09 AM by librechik
and release "Dr. Germ." (Can't say that I'm sorry about that actually)

But why did the other two hostages have to die? This is outrageous!

Why did we even have her in custody anyway?

I'm so pissed off...

ON EDIT (sorry, I just heard it on AAR news just now--I'll look for a link)

4. Oops! AAR news is behind the times! (not released after all )
snip

" Two high-profile women prisoners in American custody will not be released immediately, the US embassy said in Baghdad today, despite an earlier announcement by Iraqi authorities.

The two scientists – dubbed Dr Germ and Mrs Anthrax –“are in our legal and physical custody,” an embassy spokesman said. “Legal status of these two and many others is under constant review,” he added.

"An Iraqi Justice Ministry spokesman earlier announced that Iraqi authorities together with US-led forces had decided to release on bail one of the two women, Rihab Rashid Taha – Dr Germ."

16. So, let me get this straight.
Two Iraqi citizens are being detained. The Iraqi gov't says that they will release them, then the US steps in and says no they won't.

How is Iraq SOVEREIGN again?

7. so let me get this straight.
2 'Muricans are beheaded and folks in the US are urged to stay the course and the women stay prisoners. Then folk in the UK raise a stin k for one of theirs and the prisoners are released?

What's up with that? Why aren't people in the US pissed? The US sacrifices their own and the UK saves theirs?

Something's very wrong here.

13. Is it "Dr. Germ" or "Mrs. Anthrax"?
It's so hard to keep up with cutesy nicknames these days. :eyes:

I'm confused... I thought it was official US policy to NOT negotiate with terrorists?

BAGHDAD (Reuters) - With time running out to save a British hostage in Iraq (news - web sites), U.S. officials said on Wednesday they were not about to free female Iraqi prisoners as demanded by an al Qaeda ally whose group has already beheaded two Americans.
