Cat Stevens explaining Rushdie fatwa is like me and abortion bombers

I might be asked, as a Christian, "Why do Christians bomb abortion clinics?" I'd answer "Some Christians believe life begins at conception and think abortion doctors are murderers. They therefore feel they have the right to kill them." If I stopped there, people would think I support these actions, which I don't. I'm just explaining.

Cat was not supporting the fatwa against Rushdie. He was just trying to explain how serious blasphemy is for a Muslim. He's gotten a lot of bad press, and I wish people would base their opinions on what he actually said. He can also say that Islam thinks homosexuality is a sin without that necessarily being his opinion. I'd have to say that right now Christians think homosexuality is a sin, though I don't personally agree with that, and I think that will change.
