The guy who just called Franken...
Edited on Wed Sep-22-04 12:39 PM by all_hail_gwb
.. who said that Repubs follow * like rooting for their favorite team is exactly what I've always thought. But I think it applies to those who may be less edumacated who think this way.

That would be a great line for Kerry to use while reaching out in certain communities that lean heavy red and are impoverished and under educated. He needs to say:

"This is the future of your country you are casting a vote for, not rooting for your favorite team! Just because they are your favorite does not mean that they are the winning team (or right for the welfare of the country)".

When is he going to say something like that? It seems like the only way of getting through to these "vote for * not matter what" idiots.

What do you all think?

1. For Some, The Most They Got Out Of High School
Was fooling around at the Friday football game.

Cheer leading is all they ever learned and all they understand.

Quite logical when you think about it.

4. Bush was a Cheerleader

This group of Girlie Men would hate the idea that Bush was a little cheerleader!

I think they need to know that he was not playing first string, he was a cheerleader, like a girl.

If they only knew what a wimp he really is - LOL.

I heard one of his kool aid drinkers say that he was so athletic.
She said that he just zooms all over the hills on his bike. Have we ever seen those photos? I have not.

I have heard that he fell off of his little "tricycle" last month.

Let's demand to have a reporter tag behind on his next ride - what about Helen Thomas - that would be so cool.

has some merit; has a place in the arsenal. Afterall, Sports fans need sports metaphors.

6. It is the sports metaphors that are the problem...
If it is only about being on the winning side.

How do we get people to see that looking at the polls and voting for the fellow who is ahead is not exactly the point?

It isn't about being a "fan" of the Presnit or Kerry.
:grr:
At some point it has to be about a collection of policies, doesn't it? Or at least the policy process...

8. My point exactly.
Just someone has to get through their thick skulls.

The guy who called in was a registered Republikkkan (hough I think more a right-leaning independent) makes over 200k /yr and still thinks *'s policies are f'd up.

It's calls like that that makes me think there is still hope and opportunities. Someone just has to light a fire under Kerry's ass to exploit these opportunities.

9. Yes. For too many, an 'opinion' is like a logo or team emblem.
They can't design their own, since it's all about affiliation. It's remarkable that these "rugged individualists" are so frantic to assemble in groups, families, clubs, mobs, and cheering sections, incapable of critical thinking on their own. How can they possibly stand against "socialism" by proclaiming themselves individuals when their entire existence is a frantic search for affiliation? To live a life of such nihilistic contradictions is neurotic at best.

I think the best evidence of the neurosis is the near-panic demonstrated when it's questioned, even gently. "Methinks thou protesteth too much" is the cliche that tip-toes through my mind whenever I probe one of these folks. I once made a laconic and off-hand remark about homosexuality not being an inherited trait, and a homophobic fundie gal who was pregnant actually broke out in tears and rage that I'd joke about such a thing. I could only wonder at the emotional trauma in her personal background. Her own false beliefs and bigotries created her own mental hell.
