I caught this story over the weekend via CNN, but an early-morning check of CNN.com sites has turned up nothing there.
In a nutshell, the Iraq air force now consists of two of these planes:
This little beauty is the Seabird Seeker SB7L-360 reconnaissance aircraft. The CNN bimbette who did the story was having a hard time keeping a straight face as she detailed how the aircraft would be used to keep watch over the oil pipelines and electrical grid of Iraq.
I also found this highly amusing: plans are to have 10 of these aircraft contracted for by tomorrow.
Read more here.We think that two small reconnaissance craft, apparently slightly larger than an F-250 duelly pickup, constitute an air force? That looks like what the Regime wants us to believe! It would be falling-down funny, except for the Colonialism it bespeaks:
We certainly can't have those
dark-skinned ones flying around in armed jets, can we? No, let's just give them two small planes (with a promise of more if they prove to be Clever Lads) and
tell them it's an air force. Then we'll send 'em out to keep an eye on the pipelines.
Eighty-seven billion dollars, and ten light planes will be an air force? Your tax dollars at work, I reckon...
