1. yes, already saw it and Daschle was a complete wimp
faulted Kerry for voting against the $87 billion for Iraq and didn't put the blame on Bush for lying about Iraq--kind of skirted that. He needs to be replaced as Dem leader.

5. Russert made Thune look like a total dipshit
Edited on Sun Sep-19-04 10:25 AM by johnfunk
Hmmm... smacking around a hard-right proto-Gingroid look like a moron... and being tough but not unfair in questions to Daschle that allowed him to come back strong... you don't suppose that Pumpkinhead sees the writing on the wall in the form of a pink slip for Smirky W. McFlightsuit, now, do you?...

14. daschle did a great job, still don't like him as a sen leader. but I
understand his position, and I think he did a great job under the circumstance. the dnc should follow this example, and run repugs in repug areas, this is why the repugs have control of both houses.

... to see rupug's sweat and stew and in their own bile. Daschle laid it on a bit thick, however, with the dramatic pause before the "... my values are what my parents taught me and John's attacks really hurt" (paraphrase).

12. Daschle was talking to
South Dakotans who KNOW him. Most of them have had the opportunity to meet him and get to know him over the years - he's tight with South Dakotans and they know he is not a demon.

In light of that, I thought his obvious indignation at the attempts to "demonize" him was the best part of the debate. He reminded South Dakotans of the Daschle they know - and they know he is not some "wild eyed" crazy as he is depicted in Thune's ads.

11. Daschle agreed to EI GHT debates with Thune. The real wimp is
the pink tutu-clad shrub who's doing just two debates.

Daschle will do well against Thune - let's support him and not lose a Senate seat, okay?

13. Daschle Did Okay Could have done Better
I did not see the whole debate, but I did see a good bit of it. Daschle did okay, but chould have done better by pointing the problems with the Republican leadership and giving more detail about the special interest in the energy bill. In addition, he could have pointed out the special interest ties that the Republican Party has. Thune brought up special interest and the Democratic Party a few times. I am glad that Daschle pointed out that Thune's comment that fillibusters have never been used to block a judicial appointment was a lie.

After the show I realized that Daschle's pointing out the difference between a leader and a follower was a good thing. Each time Russert asked Thune about something he said he tried to blame it on someone else. Thune blamed soldiers and residents of South Dakota for his comments about Daschle. On the other hand Daschle took responsibility for the things he said. Thune's inability to take responsibility for comments he made about Daschle show that he should not be in the Senate.
