Religious right leader and televangelist Jimmy Swaggart invoked George Bush's name today, and Bush's support for the Federal Marriage Amendment, while telling his parishioners that he'd gladly murder any gay man who looked at him the wrong way. I am so kidding you not.

My mom lives in Utah, so I doubt she got the pamphlet in the story, but she does have a serious thing about partial birth abortion. How she connected it with John Kerry is anybody's guess. I wouldn't ask because I don't talk politics with her anymore. It's too disturbing.

Most of the gay men I know wouldn't be the LEAST bit interested in Jimmy...I don't think he's in any danger.

That said, I watched the video, and he said "I'd kill (the gay man who looked at me wrong) and tell God that he died." If Jimmy truly believes in God, he must assume that: God knows the number of every hair on Jimmy's head; God knew Jimmy in his mother's womb, and God knows the number of Jimmy's days. Yet God wouldn't know Jimmy had killed a man and then lied about it?

If Jimmy actually believes in the God he preaches about, he should be repenting himself silly right about now for such an ignorant, hateful, faithless statement.

I should be astounded by this, but somehow I'm not.
