WHO WOULD JESUS KILL! moving on from "Who Would Jesus Bomb."
Edited on Sat Sep-18-04 07:08 PM by KoKo01
I think that's the next movement for Christian Activists. I know that the National Council of Churches, the Anglican Congregation with the Archbishop of Canterbury have all come out after Iraq Invasion started to go sour and made great declarations of their condemnation of this Invasion of a Sovereign Country based on Bush/Blair lies...but I've seen NOTHING but grandiose statements from my "mainstream" Christian Community on this. Where is the ACTIVISM? Words mean nothing without follow through...where is the follow through? Where???

I'm drawing a line in the sand here...the literal sand of the Desert of where America and Great Britain want to spill more blood of our young women and men fighting against the Muslim/Islamists and saying:

WHO WOULD JESUS KILL! I am a Christian and apalled at the weak spine of our theologians and heads of our mainstream Protestant Faiths in NOT calling for George Bush II to be thrown out as a blasphemy to those who believe that JESUS WOULD NOT BOMB and JESUS WOULD NOT KILL!

A RANT.....obviously...but felt from my guts in anger at our "do nothing" Christians who would allow this abomination against all our religious teachings in the New Testament and our basic humanitarian spirit of all humanity on this planet to continue in Iraq/Afghanistan/Africa and anywhere else that people are caught up in endless wars for Politics and Corporate Greed. :nuke:

i thought 'thou shalt not kill' was one of the big ten no-no's.

show's you how powerful the rw spin is. if they can convince so many that bush is a hero because the biggest terrorist attack in US history happened during his admin, they can do anything.

2. * claims to be a United Methodist.
That is my church. They condemned the war.

Also, * has never received a delegation of United Methodist bishops. The church is concerned about this. He has spoken to the Southern Baptist Convention three times, but has not met with the leaders of his own church.

Every President since Reagan has met with the United Methodist bishops at the White House.

The United Methodists are also pro-choice. They were one of the religious sponsors of the March for Women's Lives.

5. Yes...but our "spineless" Christians did NOT FIGHT BACK. We didn't
Edited on Sat Sep-18-04 07:36 PM by KoKo01
press the issue...we didn't blast the media and force our spokespeople onto Fox, CNN, MSNBC.

We are now "marginalized voices in the wilderness." Our leaders speak but they don't call for ACTION...They voice their congregations concerns who were against the Invasion but allowed the issue to languish when they got "blow back" from those who though 9/11 was caused by Saddam and they sit and let Faux Network corrupt their congregations and marginalize the very folks they tried to support by their "do nothingness" but issue directives in print from their Bishops or the National Council of Churches.

They are silent as they lose member to the fundie churches. Look at the numbers on the "mainsteam churches." All losing to the churches who give you "happy entertainment, Contemporary Services" where the congregation sings dances and claps to Contemporary Christian Music in fellowship. Those are the Churches gaining power...the "Happy Christian Talkers" who provide "non-stop" entertainment and expression of JOY FOR JESUS! Happy, singing, dancing Bush types who don't want to deal with the very heavy issues. They want to "entertain" and collect money for the entertainment, missionary efforts to spread Christianity to the infidels and causes which make them feel good...but they miss what the root of the problems are in these places they want to lead their Crusades and Missionary efforts into. Do these folks want it? Will they accept it? What are you trying to replace their beliefs with? Is it better than what they have? What's our Christian track record when we Evangelize?

But, the HARD ISSUES: DEATH/WAR/DESTRUCTION and WHAT WOULD JESUS DO are lost in this "grab for a mobile American society looking for joy, song and dance in their lives..which they don't get in their "McMansions" or "Mobile Homes" and this gives that great sense of belonging without really saying WHAT WOULD JESUS FEEL ABOUT ENDLESS WAR AGAINST EVERYONE?

8. The fundies think that if you are born again, everything is fine.
You don't have to be judged by your actions any more. If you say are born again, who cares?

They have the idea that being born again brings a kind of forgiveness that is like a Get Out of Jail Free card.

But they know nothing about grace. Grace is more than just getting out of jail free. Grace is not just a divine love bestowed freely on mankind. Grace is a two way street. Grace is learning to forgive so we can be forgiven. Mandela forgave his jailers. Corrie ten Boom forgave the Nazis who killed her family.

These born agains are so judgmental. And they have no clue that being born again is only the first step. You are correct in that we are allowing a bunch of spiritual infants to call the shots. But you and I know that they are not the ones in charge. The Falwells, the Reeds, the Robertsons, the ones who are in it for power are in charge of those spiritual infants.

I don't know what it is going to take before we stop being afraid of these people. Maybe we will have to go through a long period of hardship and repression before we take back our faith and our country.

3. w/o the strong baking
of Christians, this war would never have taken place. This is not a case of apathy on the part of Christians, blood is splattered all over the Nave.

4. Who would Jesus torture? Who would Jesus rape at Abu Ghraid?
When George Bullshit ran for pResident, he said that Jesus was his most important political philosopher. Why haven't the real Christians challenged this absurd notion?

7. Who Would Jesus Kill, Bomb, Rape, Imprison, Condemn?" Yes...more
needs to be added to those protest signs that started with the simple:

WHO WOULD JESUS BOMB?

It's gone beyond where we thought it would. This is a humanitarian issue...it cuts beyond politics...it goes to the foundations of how we treat our fellow man.

In the past we thought "Religious folks" would lead the battle against these "crimes and abuses against humanity" like the great Martin Luther King and the Great Martin Luther who opened the door for the "Reformation," but today we have spineless souls in our great Christian Relgions including the Catholic Church so decimated by scandal that it can't stand in faith and communion with all of the rest of us "mainstream" Christians in condemning from the pulpits and through activism this "take over" by George (Religion Lacking/professing false doctrine) Bush the II of our whole national dialog over "RIGHT AND WRONG" based on theological principles.

6. Cult like following..
I have long been bothered by the lack of reality and acceptance thereof that is practiced by administration supporters...I live in a senior citizen community and excuse me but...seem to be the only one in the neighborhood who is not a "Bush card carrying member" ...when they speak of the war and it's for our "security" to rid the world of these "terrorists" -and he's our red, white and blue fellow...How dare I criticize him..."where's my patriotism"...and on the economy, and on healthcare...etc...these comments are here because I have considered the James Jones...Full Gospel -People's Temple cult where his followers believed ...everything...they were told and followed him to their own demise...in the name of God...Pretty scarey stuff.

10. I know what you are talking about and it's like they don't
speak English anymore. They use words like security, terrorism and patriotism as if they don't really understand what they mean. I also found out that trying logical arguments with them just alienates them. I think the present government's fear tactics are working very well. I wouldn't put it past them to say that we will go to Hell if we vote for John Kerry.

9. So it appears that your religious beliefs have been
co-opted by the other camp. It's time for Christians to take their beliefs back I think.
