1. They Dropped It
Too much opposition within Iraq. To be fair, it was designed by an Iraqi citizen, not the American authorities and the blue was supposed to represent the rivers Tigris and Euphrates. But the US authorities didn't consult enough and didn't make it a public process. Plus they stupidly failed to take into that the colors of the flag were the colors of the Israeli flag.

you may have seen the iraqis at the olympics waving a flag that was very similar to the old, Saddam era flag.
