Kucinich calls for hearings on the future of Iraq
http://www.commondreams.org/news2004/0917-06.htm

WASHINGTON - September 17 - Congressman Dennis J. Kucinich, Ranking Member of the House Government Reform Subcommittee on National Security, Emerging Threats and International Relations, today called on Subcommittee Chairman Shays to hold hearings on the future of Iraq after the release of the latest National Intelligence Estimate.

Kucinich, in a letter to Chairman Shays, states, "As recent reports in the media have disclosed, this classified document is the first formal intelligence estimate on Iraq in two years. As you are aware, the October 2002 NIE estimate on Iraq focused on Iraq's alleged program to reconstitute its weapons of mass destruction program.

That document, which was declassified by the Bush Administration, reflected the consensus of major American intelligence agencies, and I believe that the July 2004 NIE should also be declassified. Congress, the public, and particularly U.S. military troops, should have the same awareness of the challenges confronting the U.S. in Iraq in the near future."

1. Dennis is the voice of reason in this country.
But, "too liberal" for the Democrats.

2. Whenever the bubble of frustration, outrage, and indignation
over the complicit silence and/or whitewashing by our government threatens to burst, whenever I'm ready to throw my hands in the air and walk away from politics entirely, I can look to Dennis Kucinich to actually speak out and take action. If something needs to be said or done, I can find him there.

I wish we had a Congress full of Kuciniches.

3. Congress full. Presidency full. Administration full.
Imagine what this country would be like with more Kuciniches in ALL areas of government.

Yet, look what we got slammed with here, right here on DU, during the primaries. And, it still goes on.

We Dems truly are our own worst enemies.

I read a blurb on a book about Plato the other day....... The quote was:

"The ideal government, Plato believed, must reflect the structure of the human soul. It must be guided by those with sure knowledge of the good, and guarded by individuals with a fierce allegiance to justice. Participants in economic life, the lowest of the human functions, must find their fulfillment in self-controlled consumption. If each class within the state does its job, order will rule, and everyone can achieve a measure of happiness. "

Sure made me think again of Dennis, and his boundless wisdom and love of us commoners.

Can you imagine a nation run by those values???

4. I'm very glad he's a ranking member. Does he have much support for this,
do you know?

I'd sure like to see this happen....... guess it's time for a phone call to Shays on Monday.

That number would be:
1-800-839-5276

I hope others will be calling on that, also.

Anything else we can do?
