A Personal Plea to Christians and Others - The MOST IMPORTANT THING
I have been praying for 3 years now that the truth about September 11 come out. As I was reading this

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=104x2351217

(Thank you Cornfield!)
I swear it hit me like a lead-balloon that what I was holding was the answer to my prayers. My initial reaction was to do this very secretly without much fanfare - to recruit 3 people who would recruit 3 people and so on to get this message sent to the Church's. A sneak attack unde the rader. However, I realize how monumental this task is and the only way to really instigate change, is to have many others join me.

I am working now on a cover letter to send to pastors in my area (and it is long!) but what the heck, that's what preachers do is read and study. I want to write the letter in such a way that it will be difficult for them to disbelieve and toss this in the trash. I checked the Yellow Pages and have a list of 50 pretty large Church's (in my geneal area alone) that I am going to send this document, as well as another possible one or two documents. One being the Christian site Earl G has a thread on http://www.christiansforkerryedwards.com (I think).

It's not going to be cheap, but then freedom and change never is. If you haven't read this document, please do so. I am also going to put that article on every car I see parked with a Bush/Cheney sticker on it. And will probably put it in people's mailboxes who have Bush/Cheney signs in their yard. People are being fooled and I can't stand that.

I can't tell you how strongly I feel that this is a huge key - I feel God has answered my prayer through Stanley Hilton (and he probably won't be around long) so it is up to us to save this country. I was raised Baptist (although I am non-religious now) but I certainly know how to write to appeal to the Baptist methodology.

Some of my inspiration came when my mother told me that her preacher had encouraged all Christians to be sure to be registered to vote and to be sure to vote for Bush. They also had a guest speaker at their church a few weeks prior who made an off-color joke about Kerry and then sheepishly asked "certainly no one here would dare vote for Kerry would they". They have got these poor church people snockered, and I for one will not be able to live with myself if I don't try to change that. Its like throwing one stone in a pond - and then wait for the ripples.

Who is with me? Who would be willing to organize to get this sent out to the CHurch's in your area? Can we keeped it kicked at least a day or so? I would be so very grateful for any help. I will share my cover letter with you when I get it finished. Thanks much.

1. I am with you sister.
I know with Baptists, that fear and damnation angle works pretty well. They even put on that show at funerals. So for the hardcore fundies, you have to put the fear of God in them.

"Even the elect shall be deceived." That's a way good place to start. PM me with your cover letter and let me know how I can help. I am not a Christian, but i am very familiar with the content and scope of the Old and New Testaments, especially the Gospels.

Good for you TNOE. I had the same epiphany reading Hilton's words.

3. Your message literally made
my heart jump up in my chest with joy! Oh thank you, thank you, thank you. This means so very much to me. "Epiphany" is the word, I KNEW beyond a shadow of a doubt that this is what needs to be done.

WE CAN do this. I just started on the cover letter yesterday and it definitely needs some tweaking - but I hope to get it to you later today.

I am sending them "anamously" (sp?)
No one need know where it came from. I also thought but then had doubts - as to perhaps encourage the preachers to maybe meet with their Deacons and/or committee members to discuss. But I write that what they do with the information they've learned is completely up to them, to let their heart by their guide and to give the information "prayful consideration".

4. Thumbs-up.
I'm an ELCA Lutheran Does that count as "Christian"? (the fundies would probably say "no").

I like the idea of distributing this thing far & wide. I'm already making copies.

6. You don't have to be a Christian to participate
at all. I don't care what you are - just that you are willing to help with this. My very most heartfelt thanks!!!!!!! We can do this! We can be the change, I know it, I feel it in my heart.

5. Looking forward to it. As for your mother's preacher --
I would also ask that you or she (if she's a mind to) contact Americans United for the Separation of Church and State about his political activity. http://www.au.org

Churches are specifically prohibited from advocating for or against individual candidates OR parties -- they could lose their tax-exempt status by doing so. IMO challenging this preacher is just as important as your other activity.

My mother "would never" - she is so unconfrontational it is unbelievable. These preachers mean well and they think they are doing the right thing, they just have no idea how deadly wrong they are. I just want to educate them, but thank you. I know you're one of the great souls here.

11. It's illegal, but it's sometimes done AFTER the mail is
delivered for the day. Or, with rubber bands attaching it to the box as you suggest, or tucked into the flag.

13. WOW. You go for it! Definitely. Contact HQ of Baptists in DC
There's also a very large one in Philadelphia, Pa.

Yes. What a great idea.

Battle dumbya in his own place.

He actually had the effrontery to ask the Pope to tell the
Bishops to tell their parishioners to vote for him.

The pope released a message that he thought Bush was the
anti-christ.

I kid you not. Did you hear of that?

17. Way to Go
I just finished a job for this sweet little lady. I know that she is a good Christian. She went to vote for school board or something and she had an absentee ballot for her hubby. When inquiring about her votes she reminded me that the Election was Nov. 2. So I asked her if she knew who she was voting for? Kerry? She smiled and said no. I just knew that her church had something to do with her vote. She seemed so assured by W. It wasn't the place or the time to confront her, but I would have said right off that W is a phony Christian.

Seems that so many sheep are being led to the slaughter. The anti-Christ comes to mind.
Thank you folks for all that you are doing.

18. I think it is wrong to use any religion as physical evidence...
Christ had nothing to do with fanatics flying into buildings and fields, nor did Mohammed.

That's just worldly power working against worldly power.

20. You are selling shirts and mugs?
Granted, everybody has a right to make a living, but to post with nothing but an add for $20 T-shirts?

seems a bit cheezy, given the evocation of prayer...

25. ???? I don't see this at all.
Edited on Sat Sep-18-04 09:13 AM by LWolf
I don't see anyone using religion as physical evidence here. I don't see anyone saying Christ, Mohammed, or any other prophet had anything to do with 9/11, other than the fervent belief by suicide bombers that their sacrifice in taking war to "infidels" will cause Allah to smile on them.

I see a linked thread discussing LIHOP/MIHOP, and offering some possible evidence to strenthen these theories. That would be worldly power at work.

I see the author of this thread recognizing that a good chunk of the support for GWB comes from Christians; some because of his positions on gay rights and abortion, and some because they think he is sent by God to rule America. He has said, "God instructed me to strike Saddam."

http://www.counterpunch.org/floyd06302003.html

There is obviously a religious tone to the terrorist attacks, and to GWBs administration. The author of this thread is pointing out, if I read the intent correctly, that GWB is not "Christian" in deed, and that the policies of this administration contradict Christ's message.

The suggestion is a letter campaign to point this out to the faithful; some will not be moved from their worship of Bush as God's messenger, but some who truly practice their faith can see the contradictions. If Bush is no longer getting support from the pulpit, if their leaders are questioning, then they may feel more comfortable questioning him as well. While politics do not belong in the church or the temple, imo, the fact is that many Sunday sermons are as much political as they are spiritual messages. The right has used the pulpit to further their agenda for decades, if my memory is accurate.

The point is to take that vehicle back from them.

And below, you belittled someone who popped in to support the effort, and who pointed out her own efforts to you. Her efforts to support causes and groups working to wrest America back from the precipice we find ourselves on.

I personally appreciate all efforts to defeat Bush in November.

But I do take my faith personal and he hijacked my faith. I don't shove faith down anyone's throat. we have over 200 religions in this country and many who are non beleivers. Its a personal choice. I don't judge any.
