Dan Rather Death Watch 2004 #
Is Dan Rather going to make it? No, we're not talking about CBS anchor Dan Rather's physical health; we're talking about the sickening state of his career as a result of the CBS ratings hit he's taking. After Rather presented questionable documents regarding Dubya's National Guard service on the evening news, viewership abruptly dropped:

"The audience appears to polarized," a top CBS source said from LOS ANGELES on Thursday. "Rightly or wrongly, we're being perceived as 'anti-Bush,' which I do not think is fair to Dan, who is a fine journalist... of course we do not like to see the ratings coming back the way they are this week."
Make no mistake: the entire staff of Fox News has been masturbating over this all day. Damn those Republican Nielsen homes.

5. It's that Howie Kurtz article, again. Remember his wife works as a Repug
Operator. He is NOT to be trusted. He's all over CNN spreading lies about CBS and never discloses the connection of his wife to Bush and Schwartzenneger. He was on tonight on CNN trashing Rather and CBS..and this is once again after his column.

7. Sent this last night
Dear CBS,

How do I thank you? Let me count the ways. After selection 2000 and the general failure by the news media -- networks, cable, weekly magazines -- to question, challenge or INVESTIGATE how the Bush Administration operates, the damning past histories of many of its key players, the disastrous path they have lead this country down, I turned off the TV completely and discontinued my subscriptions to TIME, NEWSWEAK (typo intended) and the Washington Post National Weekly Edition.

I turned instead to the internet and some wonderful, other sources here (e.g. New York Observer) and across the globe (what a different perspective). Of late, however, I have returned to the TV, specifically to CBS and Dan Rather. At long last a network and a real journalist are standing up the Rove Master's campaign of lies, spin and distortion, and the puppet president is finally being exposed for the fraud he is.

Keep up the good work. You have affirmed that investigative journalism is not dead on this side of the pond and given me faith that network news just might find its way out of the darkness of infotainment.

My best to Dan, THE MAN, Rather.
