Anyone watching CNN Headline News?
They just had a protester that had interrupted a Laura Bush speech yesterday. She was a middle-aged woman wearing a shirt that said "Bush killed my son." I guess her son was a soldier in Iraq. I guess they escorted her out and the clip they showed was her being arrested and put into a police van. It struck me as very Orwellian, but I have to admit, I just finished re-reading 1984. I was wondering if this is making the news anywhere other than CNN headline news.

2. I heard about it on Randi Rhodes yesterday.
She was comparing how cold Laura was towards her - basically completely ignorning her and offering suggestions about how other first ladies might have handled something like that.

5. No, CNN's bad enough. Headline News is literally unwatchable
It's like watching the misbegotten spawn of some twisted experiment involving cross-breeding exercise videos, informercials and a stock ticker.

6. what would she be charged for?
I've always wondered what legal action could be taken against someone who stands up and shouts something unpopular during a speech. Escorted out, sure, but arrested? Any lawyers care to shed some light on this?

Has any GOP protester been arrested when disrupting a Kerry speech?

8. I'm a lawyer, but I don't have any answers
I think the news story said she was arrested for tresspassing. I can't imagine charges being brought by any self-respecting prosecutor. I question the legality of all these arrests.

I believe the charge was "defiant tresspass" and carried 5-10K fine and up to 5 years jail time....

on edit: corrected 'aggressive' to 'defiant'

14. Convoluted logic
I heard she had a ticket to the event. In that event, (early yet, not meaning to pun) how could it be "agressive trespass"?

13. She had a ticket to the event. And, though she interrupted Pickle's
"speech," so too did the Bushistas trying to overyell her with "four more years." So, if the mother was disrupting and justified removal/arrest, then why (legally) did the Bush supporters yelling "four more years?"

12. Imperial Amerika is a Lawless Totalitarian Land
They will charge her, Soviet style, with whatever they wish.

"Disorderly conduct" probably.

And no, I don;t even have to look to know that NO Bushevik has been arrested for heckling a Kerry rally.

I know this because I am familiar with Totalitarianism and how it works.

Feel free to research it because it's always nice to receive confrmation of the obvious.

17. The local news (Phila) had a piece on it yesterday
The woman was charged with "defiant trespass", whatever the f legal concept that is.

Yes she had a ticket to be at the event, but the charge came b/c in the process of escorting her out, at the exit she refused to move and thus was blocking the exit. Purportedly. So the police said.

The local news channel interviewed her and she was one very sad lady to listen to. Like the mother in F9/11.

7. Military Dictatorship USA

"If Tyranny and Oppression come to this land, it will be in the guise of fighting a foreign enemy."

James Madison, while a United States Congressman

Military Dictatorship USA

We usually think of a nation being controlled by a military dictatorship when a military leader seizes control through a putsch, as in the case of General Pervez Musharraf in Pakistan or Saddam Hussein in Iraq. The previous government is overthrown and a military strong man places himself in power with few if any constraints from judicial or legislative oversight.

But we must look for the essence of a military dictatorship, those features which are present whenever this form of oppression occurs. In essence, a military dictatorship is a form of government in which absolute power is concentrated in a repressive ruler or a small clique who use military and police power to dominate the people mentally and physically.

we should be trumpeting this all over the world.

Hillary got LYNCHED for the suggestion that she merely didn't talk to a Gold Star Mother. (It was untrue, of course)
