Looking at the Republicans and the Democrats one thing that

stands out in my mind is that Democrats like Kerry and Edwards are self made men who rose up by merit.Whether it was Kerry's meritorious service in Vietnam or his long distinguished record in the Senate, he has been his own man despite being born to wealth.John Edwards of course rose from more humble beginnings and has achieved what he has achieved on sheer merit alone.Contrast that with Bush ( a miserable failure in business, politics and war),Cheney ( revolving door salesman), Rumsfeld( fast buck artist at the expense of the health of Americans),Rice ( a phony expert on the Soviet Union) and of course
Powell ( whose role in the My Lai massacre coverup is still well hidden).On these grounds alone, normal people should choose John Kerry and John Edwards.

Unfortunately, we do not live in normal times.
