Rather vs. Rove: who is double crossing whom ?
... the man is not stupid .... he is falling on the sword to get this war-monger out of office ... and take Rove down with him ... Rather, I think he is a patriot.
I think he is so serious about this, he is willing to sacrifice his career.

something is up .... Rather hit a nerve .... Limbaugh is blowing a blood vessel.

1. I think the other major networks are gutless
Dan Rather is one of few people willing to show the nation that our emperor is not wearing clothes! Seriously. I have been so sick of the way the media has handled Bush so lightly all these years.

Rather has guts.

2. Dan has had a good career and could retire if he so chooses and
would be remembered well by fair minded folks. Hope this elevates his status and casts him as a real true hero for the country and a champion of great media intellects. I'm pulling for you Dan and CBS, the future of a free media is at stake.

3. From what I understand, Rove is a dirty player.
So, I expect, whether true or false, some extremely dirty stories to surface concerning Dan Rather.

7. Can Dan take Karl down, though?
The Evil Sub-Genius is hard to "kill".

I had a guy tell me today that Dan Rather "disgusts" him for trying to "lie" about Bush. This guy drives a truck, so he gets a radio-full of "honest" news every day.....

Rather can take down Rove.

10. But will CBS "back" Rather?
Like Paley backed Murrow?

That was a different era, Networks weren't so worried about their precious "Access" then like they are now.

12. If CBS had a problem with Rather, they wouldn't have backed...
...this story for the last five years and supplied four lawyers to do the fact-checking.

8. If the CBS documents are fake there's one way to prove it.
Bush has to produce a full and complete service record. Until then we only have these documents and the few records Bush has produced. Both sets of documents seem to support each other as far as I can tell.

11. I think Rove and Co. are messing with the wrong man.
Edited on Thu Sep-16-04 02:35 PM by kaitykaity
If one of the big three isn't above a Rovian smear job,
how long do you think it will be before the other bigs
realize it could happen to them?

Are they really that below contempt? That they would allow
one of their own to be brought down by the likes of Rove?
I think that "serious" journalists are very proud people,
and I think they will look at this and finally say, "enough."

Gawd, I hope I'm not a delusional optimist.
