Did a figure from the JFK (Kennedy) era pass away?

On the CNN crawl, all I saw was ". . . Pres. Kennedy. He was 89. :AP." I waited around for about three cycles and it never came around again.

Does anyone know? Can't find it on AP sites. TIA

He died at Valley Baptist Medical Center-Brownsville surrounded by his family, said his son Reynaldo G. Garza Jr.
