3. clarke: bush said the thing they wish had done differently in iraq
is that they won the military battle too quickly. the ground battle should have lasted longer...

he & randi have no idea who would have come up with this for bush.

the mind continues to boggle

5. clarke: one response from bush pre 9/11 to condi:
bush tells condi we dont want to "swat flies", we want the beehive
so condi goes to richard saying we need a plan, and richard says, weve given you that... still not until 9/4 do they have a mtg

clarke had been calling urgently for a meeting with principals. not one

7. she lets richard pick what topic he will talk about: millenium bomb
plot is what he chooses as "very interesting" regarding successful clinton administration effort of curbing al qaeda plots, and the arrests and plots stopped around the country that are related to this overall effort. not just la

contrasting this in 2001/bush. the difference between bush and clinton. bush wasnt very interested and didnt "shake the trees"

randi said it bothered her that clinton didnt point to their successes, so people didnt know
