Nile Gardner - Heritage Foundation would like us to believe
that the war in Iraq is keeping us safer because in essence, all the terrorists have moved to Iraq to fight against the US military. And the best way to defeat terrorism is to "stay the course" in Iraq until all the terrorists are dead. He admits however, that this may take a hundred years or so.

He was a guest on "To The Point" today, a PRI program. He seems to show up on there at least once a week.

I wonder if that guy actually gets paid to cast this shit out?

1. Oh good, all war, all the time. In someone else's back garden.
And how long does he think that will be effective? Sometimes you have to wonder if they are really that naive, or just purposefully disingenuous. I think I'll go with the latter.

2. My favorite description of the Heritage Foundation:
"...an agenda of austerity for the poor, hostility to minorities and women, upward distribution of wealth for the rich, economic domination of the Third World, with repression and bloodletting for those who rebel." ("The Coors Connection")

Just about says it all? .... a Nazi by any other name is the Heritage Foundation.

3. Yah, I forget what they call this theory, it is amazingly stupid.
Flypaper theory or something.

You would have to be a moron to not see it as a laughable argument.

5. Yes the flypaper theory
This is actually the the latest rational/justification floated by the bush regime, the "proof" that it works is "supported" by the fact that no terrorist attacks have occurred in the US since the invasion of Iraq.
This line of reason is, of course, the most speculative pile of shit ever imagined. And is transparently foolish on it's face. However, it appears that it is the best idea they can come up with now.

4. It's a moronic argument to begin with, but even if you accept it,

what gives us the right to turn a sovereign nation into our own little terrorist shooting gallery?

They talk about liberating the Iraqi people, then boast of our ingenious plan to turn the Iraqis' neighborhods into terrorist war zones.
