Political discrimination in the work place --- what to do?
One of my part time jobs is as part of the pricing team at a local grocery store. this particular chain of stores is owned by the employees which makes me feel even more certain this is wrong.
Today was the second time that I entered our employee break room to find a poster touting anti-gay rights and how terrible democrats are. I spoke with my bosses already, as I am a democrat and we have two gay employees. However, the poster was up again, and once again, I was yelled at by a superior for removing it. I'm not sure entirely how to handle the situation.
Suggestions?

1. Bring it up at a meeting
If it's employee-owned, there would be meetings to vote on shareholder issues. Or is it employee-owned in name only?

7. Go over his head then
Bring it to the attention of the district manager. Ask if it's company policy to display political material and suggest that it could open the company up to a lawsuit.

If it doesn't get taken down then ask a lawyer what he/she can do.

2. If pro-Bush posters are permitted

3. Sue their asses off
for discriminatory postings / buletins. I'm sure you can find a lawyer some where who's hungry enough to take that to court.

4. Something like that sounds
not just immoral but illegal. It would be promoting discrimination and maybe it should be reported to some agency. ACLU maybe?

8. Well, ACLU might think differently of your ignorant supervisor.
People like that are very dangerous to our society - we don't need agitaors like that around.

10. Examine the EEOC laws of your state.
If in violation point out to the "supervisors" they are committing a crime creating a hostile work envronment.
