How is Dennis doing in his Congressional race?
Tonight I heard rumors that the GOP is pulling dirty tricks and that he might lose his seat. He won by 74% last time. Is this just paranoia or is he really in trouble in his race? If he is, we need to donate everything we can. WE need him.

1. I haven't heard anything
but I suspect they would be up to no good but I also have confidence that he can win this one, and then maybe a couple of congressional terms after this maybe run for governor or senator like I've heard, he would be better than Taft, Voinovich, or DeWine.

2. Campaign And Election has his win odds at 4-1
80% chance to win.

I've not seen his name on any of the lists of endangered incumbents.

27. Just a note on their odds, they claim a 98% track record
I believe, but they will updaate them to the last week. It could get closer, but I doubt it.

1) It's a fairly stron Dem District

2) The GOP opponent has not raised a lot of money, I think it was around 120k from the filing in June or July. Not a lot for a challenger at all.

3) It's not going to be a good year for Repubs

4) Ohio has had huge job losses

5) Kucinich has been an attentive Congressman. He missed, what, only a handful of votes while running for president.

16. How unbiased is http://www.dcpoliticalreport.com/
I looked at http://www.dcpoliticalreport.com/ and it looks like he is on the Democrat team. I noticed this statement at the bottom of the page...

D.C.'s Political Report is dedicated to bringing to the public complete summaries of all Congressional, Gubernatorial, and state wide races from across the United States of America and its territories. D.C.'s Political Report has thousands of hyperlinks to candidates, elected offices, government agencies, political parties and political organizations. Its editor, D.C. Finegold Sachs, although a ferocious partisan, presents material without bias, and provides links to candidates' web pages so that opinions can be made by individuals.

Can we assume this report is not hyped up?

5. His district is solidly Democratic and
his Republican opponent hasn't raised much money. It won't even be close.

7. let's not forget
the last time this district was represented by a republican, it was martin hoke. he only took the seat because of mary rose oakar's disgrace at the hands of the house banking scandal. rather than treat his seat with dignity, he was caught on tape making crass comments about a woman and he was sent packing.

i don't think those of us who live in dennis's district are fond of embarrassing politicians.

were to retake the House Pelosi would be the first woman speaker and Kucinich should be the whip....though I'd be very happy to have Kucinich as the speaker.

15. Because he's the better choice.
Just my opinion. ;-)

Democrats haven't been too concerned with my opinions. Pelosi is from my own state's 8th district. She can sew all she wants; Dennis gets my support.

because of gender!

That's a poor reason to fill such an important position.

I'm not knocking her; she just isn't Dennis.

As a woman, I'm all for more strong women holding positions of power; I'll offer my personal choice.

Still a strong woman from my state. Let's put Barbara Boxer in as senate minority (or, even better, majority!)leader.

:) :) :hi: :) :)

Better choice, indeed!!

Pelosi blows hot and cold, and just when you think she's got it together, she does something really DUMB.

When we have someone like Dennis available, we'd be colossally foolish to let the opportunity slip through our fingers.

I mean, are we really serious about pulling this country out of the toilet, or not???

22. As far as I know,
Dennis is one of a kind. There are other good reps out there, but there is only one I've ever experienced in my 44 years with the same courage, integrity, and determination. If Dennis is available, no one would serve America better. In my opinion, of course! ;-)

That's what I've said from the begining.

We pass him up at our own peril.

September 15, 2004

Dear Friend,

Now that my 2004 campaign for president has come to a conclusion, I must immediately turn my attention to retaining my seat in the U.S. House of Representatives. You can help.

I have two opponents in the race for congress in Ohio's 10th Congressional District. One, the republican, is running a highly-negative TV campaign which attacks me for my opposition to the war, my support for a woman's right to choose, and my stand for equal rights for gays.

I believe the people of Cleveland will reject these attempts to play on fear and divisiveness but we must get our message out NOW.

It was your generosity which enabled my voice to be heard in the presidential primary debates - and in auditoriums, union halls and living rooms around the country. Together we set a higher tone. We reminded Americans of the higher purpose of nationhood. We affirmed the power of the human heart to transform ourselves, our politics, our nation and the world.

Your help is needed now to ensure that I will be re-elected to Congress. Your help will keep our message of hope alive in Washington, DC. Your help will enable me to continue to be a voice for a new vision and a new direction for America - the end of fear and the beginning of hope. I want to continue to be your voice for peace, for civil liberties, for international cooperation, nuclear disarmament, for health care for all, for jobs, for fair trade, and for the education of our children.

Our campaign has an IMMEDIATE NEED for funds for mass media advertising, printed literature, mailings, telephoning and signs.

Please go to the contributions section of our congressional campaign website at http://www.kucinichforcongress.us. In this altogether separate campaign, each individual may contribute up to $2,000, couples up to $4,000. Please give what you can now. Please forward this email to everyone you know. Contributions by mail may be made to the Re-Elect Congressman Kucinich Committee, at 11730 Lorain Avenue, Cleveland, Ohio 44111. If you would prefer to give by telephone, please call (216) 252-9000.

I know well that your generosity made it possible for me to carry a message of peace and hope across America, through the primaries and caucuses and into the hearts of millions of Americans. Our work together has helped nine states - Colorado, Washington, Oregon, Iowa, Minnesota, Alaska, Hawaii, Texas and Michigan - to write support for a cabinet-level Department of Peace into their state Democratic Party platforms! The legendary news anchor, Walter Cronkite, recently wrote a nationally-syndicated column supporting the creation of a Department of Peace. Support is growing. And the work continues.

Let's continue to make a difference together. I will be forever grateful for your help. Your encouragement and your love gave me the strength to conduct a vigorous, hopeful, optimistic campaign for the presidency of the United States. I look forward to continuing to put my heart and soul into serving our nation as a member of the United State House of Representatives. Thank you for all your support.

Sincerely,

Dennis J. Kucinich
