I'm just not sure what the point of the post is. Almost all republicans are gay-bashers. This one happens to probably be gay himself. If there's proof of it, he should be outed because he is a hypocrite and a pig.

But just posting his picture and saying (for the umpteenth time) "Here's David Dreier. He's gay and a gay basher!" Well... Okay,. but everybody already knows. So now what?

11. That's a difference between a ddem mom and a repuke mom.

The dem mom, informed that her son is gay, tries to accept it and find a way to love him as he is.

The repuke mom starts a political movement to bring back shock treatment, or otherwise try to turn her son into what SHE wants him to be. Unconditional love? PSHAW! As always is the case with repugs - complete selfishness.

were just utterly thrilled to discover her son had managed, unambiguously, to find himself so early in his life, and her main concern would be that he understand how much she loves him and that she absolutely knew, all along, that he would make her so very proud. Hello, world!

And personally, I wouldn't be upset at all if my son were gay, but most dems are a bit more conventional and might need some time to adjust.

I intend to cover all the bases when I do sex ed, and that includes the fact that same-sex play and exploration in one's teens is normal, and in fact a good thing in the journey to know oneself. Hopefully my kids won't have too many hanngups and will able to be themselves without fear of what mom & dad will think.

As long as there are no babies before college graduation, and no serious VD's (IE kids take responsibility for their sexuality), I'll be perfectly fine with it.

19. Actually, I think every parent needs time to adjust, even if

they are very open.

Every parent has certain expectations. My oldest daughter (all three of my kids, really) is so nice and talented, that I just figured she would marry a wonderful guy, and have great kids. She dated boys in high school.

Now I know that if they ever change the laws, she will marry a great woman and have great kids. There is an adjustment period for some parents. Others just know from an early age that their kid is gay.

Groups like PFLAG exist for a reason. Even the most loving families need help adjusting. My son had a harder time than anyone else. He is fine, now.

You do have the right idea, though, about being accepting of your kids. I wish our daughter had told us sooner than she did. We could have given her the support and love she needed much earlier. But some people have to come out to themselves first. That can't be easy.

I don't imagine that she accepts him and is proud of him.

I feel badly for gay people who can't count on the support of their families.

It should just be like, "Oh, this is my daughter, Susie. She is married to an accountant, Tom. They have six kids, and live in Minnesota. And this is my son, Joe. He and his partner, Bill, have an adopted son. They live in Maine, and teach."

Disown your kids for being who they are? And claim to be Christians?
