Did I tell you I love you today?
I just wanted to thank all of those DU er's for their constant effort to get voters registered and get the word out about John Kerry.

Those of us who are house-bound due to illness are sooooooo grateful for your dedication.

Thank You from the bottom of my heart...:grouphug:

1. I love DU too!
Kindred spirits. I think I'd go nuts without getting to read the incredibly bright musings of DU'ers.

2. You're welcome!
I just returned from my county's election commission office - I am now officially a deputy registrar. I'm armed with my cards and will spend the next two weeks registering as many folks as I can.

7. They are a lot of us who are house-bound or otherwise unable to do much,
Gelliebeans, which is why I get a little upset with some of the demands and criticisms for everyone to do specific things.

The part I've taken on for myself is to gather info about issues that need attention, and post them asking DUers to write and call. Most of us who are dealing with physical problems can send emails and make phone calls. I can call the toll-free numbers, but can't afford the long-distance calls. I also try to help kick when others post the same sort of requests. Your help with this would be very welcome. :)

We also talk about the on-going work of educating and motivating mainstream Murkins after the election. I've found that what I can do is to share videos and tapes with others about issues that need to get wider exposure. This is exciting to me, as it really makes me feel like I'm doing something useful. It started simply enough....... taping Nightline's program of the reading of the name of the US soldiers killed in Iraq that some DUers didn't get because it was preempted in their locality. It has grown from there, and I enjoy doing it.

If you stop to think about it, all these things are no small accomplishment! It's certainly more than most Murkins do for their country's political process. So, welcome to the club, and I'm sure you'll find your very useful niche!

10. If you haven't made the calls on DeLay yet
it sure would be a help.

from DailyKos:

A Capitol Hill Democratic source tells me that your calls last week, demanding the ethics committee investigate DeLay, made a difference.

It wasn't so much that committee Democrats want to punt on the investigation, nor that they are more interested in maintaining the ethics truce. Rather, they have been seeking a way to move forward that doesn't invite retaliation from the other side. Of course, given who they're dealing with (DeLay), retaliation seems all but assured if they do anything other than punt.

In any case, the source said that your phone calls (and there were a ton of them) slowed the rush toward giving DeLay a pass. Committee Dems are apparently now holding a harder line, and the outcome is once again up in the air. I have included the committee member names and phone numbers below. It's best if you live in those members' districts, but not requried. On an issue like this, I'm told, committee members may be swayed by the national mood.

On another front, Rep. Chris Bell, who filed the ethics complaint against Tom DeLay, is also not ready to surrender, just today issuing a new letter once again urging the committee to move forward with an investigation. I have included a copy of that letter in the extended entry.

So keep the pressure up. We've already had an impact.

11. Great alert, Robbien! Could you pleeeez
post this in a seperate thread, so it will get more attention, and I'll help keep it kicked as much as possible.

It really helps to know that we're having an effect! I'll also spread the word among my local contacts.
