For some reason, I've had trouble getting it through votesmart and Thomas. If anyone has a link, please post it.

4. Thank you. Feingold voted for Ashcroft too.
I am really disappointed in Boxer and Feinstein. They both had resolutions from various California clubs and central committees opposing Goss and they ignored them.

Notice that Byrd is remaining one of the good guys. We need to pick Byrd or Durbin for majority leader and whip. Clinton voted with the good guys.

6. I'm disappointed
With Boxer and Feinstein... but when Kerry comes in, Goss goes out. Short career.

9. Don't bet on it....
Having a Republican at CIA might provide political cover and make it easier to emasculate the CIA in favor of an overall intelligence czar which Kerry would select.

3. What's your definition of a "good guy"? Is it someone that...
....either knows that they can't be defeated this year, or is it someone that isn't facing re-election this year?

And what's your definition of a "bad guy"? Are you lumping all of the Democrats and sane Republicans into the same bucket with the NeoCons who voted yes?

And if you know the information you're seeking, what difference does it make if Kerry gets elected? Don't you think that he's going to install his own people in all of the senior positions like Director of the CIA?

7. Re-election concerns
Seemed to play a big role in how Dems voted. Eleven of the Dems voting yes are up for re-election in November and probably felt it wasn't worth creating an issue. In fact, the only Dems who are up for re-election and who voted no are Dodd, Wyden and Leahy -- all pretty safe seats

8. Graham's vote
perplexes me.......he and Goss have been friends and collaborators on security matters for years and my faith in Graham as an honest statesman still holds true. I don't think Sen Graham would have voted in support if he didn't believe it was okay. Having said that, Graham is pissed at the way intelligence has been politicized and won't tolerate any more of it. So did Goss give him his personal pledge? What happened?
