Rumsfeld: Some voting might be limited, "Life's not perfect!"
Edited on Thu Sep-23-04 06:25 PM by plastic_turkeys
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld on Thursday raised the possibility that some areas of Iraq might be excluded from elections scheduled for January if security could not be guaranteed.

"If there were to be an area where the extremists focused during the election period, and an election was not possible in that area at that time, so be it. You have the rest of the election and you go on. Life's not perfect," Rumsfeld told the Senate Armed Services Committee.

"Well, so be it. Nothing's perfect in life, so you have an election that's not quite perfect. Is it better than not having an election? You bet," he said.

15. I can hear it now
elections will be held in a few random areas - cutting out "radical" Shiites and large parts in the "Sunni triangle" and voila we have a resounding victory for the latest CIA stooge installed by the US to run another nation.

And we'll all be forced to hear "Iraq has a democratically elected leader now, see all you people against the war were WRONG" and various other "free iraq" garbage.

6. I'm thinking of a word
that sounds like "blustertruck" that will describe partial elections in Iraq. Or is this just another excuse from the excuse pResident?

9. How did Jon Stewart put it?
"he's like the crotchity old neighbor with a get off my lawn attitude" IIRC.

Also on the Daily Show, was a clip of Rummy speaking at the Press Club on friday (according to the screen) and he made the error 2x of hunting down Saddam. Anyone catch that. Meltdown.

11. I saw that
"We don't know where Saddam is , he might be dead" crap. I'm thinking, what did ya do, LOSE HIM?

He looked like a reaving lunatic (Or the guy outside Stewart's window wearing tinfoil and talking about banging Eleanor Roosevelt.)

16. Thank God you're talking about Iraq
'Cause the Pentagon has had designs on the expat community's votes:

Pentagon blocks site for voters outside U.S.

and this looks more like a scheme than a plan:

Pentagon offers troops a new way to vote
