Who here thinks that Bush is TOO stupid to HAVE an emotional breakdown?
That would indicate that he felt some sense of empathy.. or somethin'
You have to understand a situation to empathize.

4. No conscience is needed.
A breakdown could be caused by attacks against his precious personhood. He only cares about himself. He flies off the handle when he feels threatened. If he feels unsure of the only thing that matters to him--himself--he could have a breakdown.

7. If he has a breakdown
it'll be the kind those Harry Mudd androids had in Star Trek when Kirk explained their illogic. I think there was a similar episode with that floaty-robot named Nomad.

I am NOT a Star Trek nerd. I've only seen the original series a million times growing up.

9. He has breakdowns over and over again in press conferences.
He just brazens it out. He won't have a full fledged fit, but as he always does, he will show petty anger, impatience, fear, ignorance. The press has just excused it until recently. I think the honeymoon is over, however.

No conscience, no thought or concern for consequences of actions. These people do not have breakdowns. The ability to be introspective does not exist. Check out my sig line....

This isn't my area of expertise, but the impression I had is that people can have nervous breakdowns whether they're geniuses or retarded.

15. That was my first thought.
But after thinking about it for a bit, I've realized that one who has no emotions cannot have an emotional breakdown. It's one of the benefits of being a republican.

The only way I can see him breaking down would be if they pulled him off his 'medications' too fast.

THAT'S the only thing he cares about. He doesn't care what others think of him and he doesn't think about his actions.

24. Someone should tell him he is down in the "real polls"
If he has half a brain(he might), he probably already knows his handlers don't tell him everything and sugar coat what they do tell him. Someone should as him if he has seen the latest polls and then tell him that he dropped 15 points in the polls in the last week, and watch him stomp his feet and cry like a little kid who can't get the toy he wants at Wal-Mart.

26. Fallacy: breakdowns not for the smart only, W not quite so stupid
Edited on Sat Sep-25-04 11:43 AM by robbedvoter
Ant time I hear the "stoopid" thingy I think about this:

http://www.salon.com/news/feature/2004/09/16/tsurumi/in...

Students who challenged and embarrassed Bush in class would then become the subject of a whispering campaign by him, Tsurumi said. "In class, he couldn't challenge them. But after class, he sometimes came up to me in the hallway and started bad-mouthing those students who had challenged him. He would complain that someone was drinking too much. It was innuendo and lies. So that's how I knew, behind his smile and his smirk, that he was a very insecure, cunning and vengeful guy."

As for breakdown possibility - he can be overwhelmed by fear for his precious self as he has shown on 911. Fear is usually a good catalyst for nreakdowns.
His ego is very fragile - any whiff of lowering of adulation can be huge.
In 2001 after jeffords and bad press he was threatening his staff that he'll chuck it all and go to Crawford. Hence the long vacations....

30. The unintelligent will have short term "breakdowns" and then forget
what they're all about. They don't "dwell" on what made them "go off." Then they go back to their unbalanced "normal" state until another thing causes them to become frustrated.

The things that cause their breakdowns are more "simple and selfish" rather than a "complex" issue. That's what I noticed while working as a Psych. Social Worker.

It is definitely true that those who are very intelligent tend to often be quite unhappy and often somewhat neurotic. The happiest people I've ever been around are the mentally retarded - they do not know of the problems that we face. The saying "Ignorance is bliss" is very, very true.

33. I don't think that people who are as insensitive and revengeful as
he is suffer nervous breakdowns. People who break treaties and snicker don't suffer nervous breakdowns. People who let people arrange their lives into lies don't suffer nervous breakdowns.
