Of course I could easily be a donor too, it's not a problem of money of course but a problem of ethics. I'm French and I can't be a donor since that money, even if it's a drop in the sea, will be used in the campaign for Kerry so...

I wish a donor can post that poll for me (he has of course my benediction to correct errors in english) : According to you, what will be the October Surprise ?
1 : OBL captured or killed
2 : A preventive strike on Iran (wich will lead to a response on Israël, wich will respond too etc etc)
3 : Something really scary with North Korea
4 : A build up imaginary scandal concerning John Kerry (sex or money or Nam or...)
5 : A very 'surprising' surprise (the poster can propose a surprise of course)

6. Well I think a foreigner (specificaly if he's french for Kerry :-/ )must

not fund any of the candidates. Imagine a big french firm giving millions to Kerry ! Imagine the GOP song about that ! A foreigner can't fund a candidate in France because of the law but even if it was possible I would find it, even for just one single Euro, highly condemnable.

If DU donates even one dollar of the money we donate to a candidate or campaign, it is possible to trace that money back to our donors... and you can be sure that the Freepers would love to see DU get smacked for violating campaign finance laws.

You may recall that a Mitch McConnell (R, KY) was involved with the National Republican Senate Committee (NRSC) and reportedly accepted contributions from his wife's family (Elaine Chao, Dept of Labor), especially the non-American citizen part of the family. And don't forget Haley Barbour, then GOP chairman, being in Hong Kong harbor and claiming he had no idea he was being offered foreign campaign contributions.....

We have to be careful....

10. It doesn't take much to donate for somebody here

I've had someone donate in my name and it's a really nice thing for DU'ers to do.

Thanks to whoever it was that donated to DU in my name before, just shows you the kind of wonderful people that are members on this site. Amazingly generous kind people here.

13. The french treated me far better when I was in Kiev than several other

nations. The French Consulate had a guide and listings of apartments that foreign nationals could rent. The US Embassy (or consulate; I mix those up) didn't and didn't care what happened to me.

Yeah, I have a soft spot for the French. Lafayette, we are here.

20. Rochambeau...I too got a star by surprise...DU does RULE

In fact I had the star for over a month before I noticed, since I never looked for it because I had not contributed...then suddenly!! I had a star. DU is the MOST generous of places EVER EVER EVER!

I too love the French my grandfather was named after Napoleon Boneparte...In fact he was N. B. because our people did not want to call him Napoleon Boneparte and his son (my uncle) was Napoleon Boneparte JR...or Uncle Boney...

We are VERY French
