Chief Financial Officer of GOP admits he’s gay, stays quiet
http://www.bluelemur.com/index.php?p=305

By John Byrne | Raw Story Editor

Jay Banning, the Chief Financial Officer and Director of Administration for the Republican National Committee for more than twenty years acknowledged that he was gay during a telephone conversation Saturday.

Banning has been CFO and Director of Adminstration for the GOP since the Reagan presidency in 1983, and is responsible for all accounting systems, the administration of party headquarters, GOP security, personnel, information services, graphic services and executive secretariat services.

Asked if he was out at work, Banning said, “uh, we don’t discuss it.” He added that he didn’t feel that he was at risk of being fired for being gay.

“I don’t believe so,” he said.

4. And Mary Cheney sure is keeping a low profile...
... even though she's collecting a six-figure salary working for the Bush-Cheney reselection campaign.

Price of one shameful closet: 30 pieces of silver. I'm sure both Mr Banning and Ms Cheney can add up those figures.

8. If he isn't fired or resigns...
Assuming the Republicans keep him on until after the election, when he'll 'quietly resign,' it doesn't exactly help us to portray the Republicans as being anti-gay, just anti-gay marriage to have a gay guy in a key GOP role.

I just think it's probably best left a non-story.

If he's fired, or forced to step down before then, then the Bushies will only have the fundies to blame for losing the election.

Dreier, on the other hand, is good stuff.

9. Say what??
This admin hates gays. And women. And the poor. And people of color. And non Christians. We don't have to portray them as being the admin of hatred, they do just fine themselves.

11. I guess he won't be able to use the standard "leaving to be with my family
line. Since those words must never be allowed to someone gay.

12. You think "it's best left a non-story," eh? I don't.
And this statement: "...it doesn't exactly help us to portray the Republicans as being anti-gay, just anti-gay marriage to have a gay guy in a key GOP role." Bulletin: The GOP is RABIDLY anti-gay. Just wanted to update you. During WWII, they called Jews the collaborated with the Nazis "Capos." Capos were willing to send other Jews to the gas chambers to better their own miserable lives. Anyone who openly or quietly collaborates with the repukes is an asshole. A gay man or woman who openly collaborates with the repukes is a self-loathing, lying piece of shit. A capo. OUT THEM ALL!!!

Um, Duh.
Sheesh, people. Of course I know that Bush is anti-gay. I failed to make my point as effectively as I could:

If you're Mr. & Mrs. John Smith of Akron, Ohio, and you come to find out that the CFO of the RNC is gay, but he's not being fired after admitting it, it can appear to them that "Hey, the Republicans aren't anti-gay, they're just anti-gay marriage. And even some gays are anti-marriage."

Homosexuality isn't an election issue for straight people. Gay marriage, however, is (Dems didn't do a good enough job explaining that to protect the sanctity of marriage, we should have a constituional amendment prohibiting divorce.)

Do you see my point, now? It does dems absolutely no good for an openly gay CFO to be in the RNC. It's only good news for the DNC if he's fired or forced to resign before the election.

But if I was wrong in trying to talk about it in terms of political advantage, as opposed to frothing at the mouth when it turns out yet another Republican is homosexual, my apologies.

The Pukkkes are the ones with th huge problem. Didn't Falwell say gays are why the terrorists attack us?

They're hypocrtites and are proud of it, don't even undserstand the concept, apparently. That's the difference between them and us. At least we strive to notice our hypocrisies, and do something about it.
