Do you believe the PNAC is "pushing elections" in Iraq ===== Civil War
The logic for January elections where not ALL people can participate is crazy and cannot be called "democracy".

Especially, since the Suni population would essentially be "shut out" because of the No-Go Zones".

The "banging of the drums" for elections sounds quite suspicious when you look at the potential "outcome" which would be "great civil unrest"

Failing to plan....is planning to fail.

Did the US plan to fail?

1. There are two elections that have to be discussed, cause they are
now linked together inextricably.

As to PNAC, I think they are thinking about future strategic ME policy (Iran), not so much the situation on the ground in Iraq.

5. Don't understand the question
Of course PNAC was involved with pushing for the invasion of Iraq. I am saying they have moved on to planning other catastrophic successes.

The elections in Iraq will be postponed, not too long after Bush or Kerry wins the election. The talking points for the republicans are that there will be elections in January and "freedom is marching forward" lol.

3. PNAC/Bush* want the election to proceed
because, right now, the strongest political parties in Iraq are those that are aligned with the US and led by expatriots who have returned from exile to Iraq. Iman Sistani has complained about how these parties seem to be organizing a "unity" ballot in order to insure that these US-led parties win the elections and maintain their control of the Iraqi government.

As far as the PNAC wanting chaos in Iraq, that may very well be in their long-term interests, but I don't think they want to happen before the elections, particularly those here in the US

I'm not even sure why you would ask that of me after I posted "As far as the PNAC wanting chaos in Iraq, that may very well be in their long-term interests"

6. What bothers me about all this
Is the way both Allawi and the Bush administration shrug off the possiblity of limited elections as being okay - what does that mean for us? Would the same apply here? If there was an attack or a hurricane or some event that made it (conveniently) unsafe for elections to be held in one area (like a predominantly Kerry area), would they try to pull that crap here?

I don't trust these people for a minute. Far fetched maybe but I wonder what goes on in those black little minds of theirs.
