Explain to me how forged documents
claiming that Iraq was trying to obtain yellowcake uranium from Africa, which subsequently led to a US invasion of Iraq, were less of a news item than the current scandal at CBS? I've heard of no parallel being drawn. Have I just been unconscious or has there been some light shed on this hypocracy?

CBS News, R.I.P. : Network delays bombshell Iraq story until after election
by Volvo Liberal
Sat Sep 25th, 2004 at 04:07:35 GMT

CBS News is officially dead. The network is postponing its bombshell expose on Chimp's Iraq lies --- until after the election. Yes, this is the report that was bumped so the TANG story could run. And why won't it run now:
"We now believe it would be inappropriate to air the report so close to the presidential election," the spokeswoman, Kelli Edwards, said in a statement.

Got that? It's now inapropriate to report the facts about how the President lied the country into war.

8. That is so sad
CBS is caught between a rock and a hard place. Rove has managed to discredit the last of the networks that wasn't beholden to corporate/political interests and made it impossible for them to run this story without it being marginalized as retaliatory face-saving.

11. That's just it...
Who else is there? Bill Moyers maybe? I don't know... I've been pondering that very question for hours now.

15. What we really need is
an unimpeachable, perhaps retired, journalist to speak up. A Cronkite type figure. Someone who is out of the game and has little to gain or lose.

19. I don't know what AAR stands for
sorry... it's 3am here in NYC and I'm fading. Charlie Rose is( I believe) a Repuglican and honestly if he would let anyone speak about it on his show without interupting them I'm not sure how many people it would reach.

12. That's the wrong attitude to take
Yes, the GOP will say CBS is just trying to get even and so what? CBS should say, "The republicans can cry all they want about us meanies at CBS, but the fact remains that they used forged documents to start a war that has killed 1000 americans and has no end in sight."

14. I'm not disagreeing with you
However I was thinking in terms of how it would play to undecideds. CBS is now operating from a position of weakness and whatever they now report will bear the taint of this scandal and that goes double for anything discrediting the White House IMO.

Any ideas on a credible news source to run this story?

3. I realize that it's impossible for Kerry
to point this up as it would draw fire about his vote to go to war... but certainly someone out there could get it in print... remind the public just how the Bush Regime bypassed all vetting procedures and knowingly employed information that had been discredited by... well... EVERYONE who was in a position to know.

4. I've been screaming about that the past week
Here and elsewhere on the internet. CBS should say "The GOP is pounding us over our use of phony documents, but let's remind them that Bush used phony documents to get congressional approval for his invasion of Iraq. Which is more serious.?"

This is a great opportunity to resurrect the yellowcake scandal which dems unforgivably let die a year or so ago.

7. I couldn't agree more
It's a travesty. The Kerry campaign has spent so much time defending itself from the Rove machine that, just as the GOP Regime wanted, there has been no dicussions of anything of substance. The whole thing has been a first rate cluster-fuck. Kerry should work it into the debates. The yellowcake scandal should be a high priority talking point leading up to November.

5. For the same reason a blowjob lie was cause enough to impeach Clinton
Edited on Sat Sep-25-04 12:13 AM by 0rganism
The American people have lost political perspective, and we have the "liberal media" to thank for it. Every day, whores like Woodruff and Blitzer spew rightwing propaganda for hours, trying to get their piece of the Fox viewer market. Meanwhile, the GOP organizes paid phone banks and e-mail campaigners to act as herds of rabid attack dogs whenever the media comes out with something remotely positive for a Democrat.

They are ruthless, relentless, and remoresless. That's why they're so damn successful.

18. absolutely...
I can't even think about it it gets my blood boiling so much. And I think CBS should just say fuck it and run with their yellowcake story. The hypocrisy is amazing and NO ONE is discussing it in the national media, from what I can see. But John Kerry sure should.
